About Annie Maher
We have 3 teenagers and lead busy lives in Atlanta, GA. We are both pediatric healthcare providers who are busy with kids' sports, school, and friends. We love to be active outdoors, to eat good food with family and friends and explore new places.
Annie Maher purchased this House in 2016
Why Annie Maher chose Glenville
We love to travel and love the outdoors. We also love the chance to get out of the city and experience the silence and tranquility that the mountains provide. We traveled around the world with backpacks and little money many years ago(when we were younger!). Now we enjoy the wilderness with a little more luxury at home base. We came up to Cashiers for a single night "get away" and looked at houses just for fun. Our realtor, and now dear friend, brought us up to this half-finished house and we never looked back. The view took our breath away. We went home, sold our house immediately, downsized, and made the leap. We spent the next year and a half making it our own with a local builder who is an artist at his craft. It was the best decision we have ever made. We now enjoy the community, new friends and local flavor along with the spectacular views and wildlife.
What makes this House unique
The view!! Every season it is beautiful and it changes throughout the day with sun, shadows, low clouds. The silence on the porch still surprises us every single time we go. We also love the layout of the house as it allows for all to gather together and all to have their own space. The location is perfect to feel so far away from daily life yet with your choice of activities. It is even perfect if NO activities is your preference. It is restorative.....

Perfect Mountain Getaway!
I can't say enough good things about this amazing rental property near Cashiers! As an architect, I really appreciated the attention to design and the lack of mountain "kitsch" you often find in rental homes. It was clean, open, comfortable, modern, and just gorgeous. I also loved that it was completely stocked - from kitchen utensils to bath towels. No detail was overlooked. The setting is AMAZING! So private and the panoramic views are stunning! I didn't want to leave the porch and my cheese and wine! There were even blankets to cozy up out there on brisk fall nights. Great local hiking trails, nearby Cashiers and Highlands for incredible dining and shopping if that interests you, and the lake for summer fun (this visit was in the fall). Can't be beat!! I almost hesitate to right this glowing review because I selfishly want to keep this gem of a getaway all for myself.... I'll be back really soon!! Color me impressed!
Ps. Did I mention that it sleeps a crowd, so perfect for a girls' getaway or a multi-family vacation?
Stunning! Magnificant! Perfection!
From the moment we stepped foot onto this property our entire party was blown away. The views were breathtaking! Oh, and the decor - OMG - the owner must be a professional interior designer! The kitchen is a chef's delight, and dare I fail to mention the HEATED floors in the master bathroom! The bunk room and game room was perfect for kids of all ages. Our favorite time of day was watching the sunset from the back porch/deck with a glass (or two) of wine in hand. This place is pure perfection.
We are a 13 minute drive from the "Crossroads" at 107 and 64 where there are several restaurants for every taste and price range, coffee shop, grocery, bank, and great shopping. The crown jewel of the crossroads is the Village Green with beautiful parks, walkways, playground, and events all year long from art to live music and festivals. We are 5 miles from the beach at Lake Glenville, 3 miles to the marina for boat rental and 15 minutes from Panthertown Valley- thousands of acres of wilderness, waterfalls, views, camping and hiking for every level. We are 30 minutes from Highlands for movies, live theater, shopping. One hour to Asheville or to Maggie Valley for skiing. Several local hikes to waterfalls just around the corner.
