About the property

Chicago City View Roof Deck, 4 beds, walk everywhere, Downtown living!

Please read this listing in it's entirety prior to booking. This is a very unique property - it has the potential to be the highlight of your trip to Chicago. You will be able to walk to some of the top restaurants, bars, and attractions in Chicago. You'll have an opportunity to enjoy time spent with family and friends together under one roof. You'll be able to enjoy cocktails and drink in the Chicago Downtown Skyline from our panoramic view rooftop deck.

That being said, our home is not for everyone. We have tried our best to spell out all the idiosyncrasies in our home so that there are no surprises. Managing expectations is very important - please read this entire listing so you have a very clear idea of us, our home, and our expectations for you.

I'll do my best to give you a virtual tour of the property so you are totally clear on the setup. Access is controlled by a lockbox at the back door that is changed after each guest departs. If we accept your reservation, we will send you a detailed set of entry instructions a few days prior to your arrival date. Please review these instructions prior to coming to the home so you can enjoy all the amenities we have to offer.

When you park and enter the property, you will be in the kitchen. Our kitchen is spacious and open, and you'll be able to prepare great meals to share with your friends and family. We have a dining table, bar seating, microwave, and stove. There are basic utensils and cooking supplies to make meals. If you are planning on making an elaborate meal, you might want to bring your own supplies so you are totally comfortable.

Once you pass the kitchen, you will pass a long hallway with each of the bedrooms and bathrooms. I'll provide descriptions for the bedrooms and bathrooms later on, for now let's discuss the family room.

The family room has two large large leather sofas room with a flatscreen SMART TV. Each sofa is large enough for a fully grown adult to sleep on comfortably. We also have a king sized bed tucked away in a nook behind the sofas. You can get a better idea from the photos, but the room has been setup tastefully and we have been able to host tons of family and friends that visit us for special occasions. Regarding the TV, we do not use basic cable, instead you can stream netflix and other media options directly from the TV itself. We have blazing fast dedicated wifi for this unit so you can stream whatever you'd like! You can also watch sporting events if you have an ESPN account.

The two bedrooms and main bathrooms are adjacent to the living room and accessible from the long hallway to the kitchen.

The first bedroom has a huge king sized bed with an ensuite bathroom. The bedroom has large windows that are double paned so there is very minimum noise from the street. The ensuite bathroom has a shower and tub with a vanity so you can get ready quickly and explore the city!

The second bedroom has two full sized beds and another ensuite bathroom with stand up shower and full vanity and comode.

This beds are hotel quality and are an absolute dream to sleep in. Many of our guests have asked where we get our beds from and have purchased the same beds after staying at our home! If you stay with us and enjoy the beds, definitely feel free to reach out and we will send you the store owners contact info!

There is also a half bathroom with commode and vanity that is adjacent to the kitchen area. We were able to setup a stackable washer and dryer behind a folding door in this bathroom to save space. Feel free to use it for any laundry needs.

I hope this answers all of our questions. We want you to have a clear picture about our home and we would like to have a clear picture about your group. The most important aspect of this experience for us is your guest count. Please be very clear about the number of guests that you will be having in our home - both daytime and overnight. If you are planning to have a additional guests or a gathering of any sort, please let us know in advance. For additional guests that are not sleeping in the beds, we provide air mattresses and additional linens.

We have a great relationship with our neighbors and would like to set expectations with them so they are not disturbed. Please note, any unauthorized guests or gatherings will result in your reservation being terminated without refund. Please do not let this happen to you. We want you to enjoy our home and conversely, we want to enjoy sharing our home with you.

That being said, if you are visiting Chicago for work, leisure, or simply to explore the sights, feel free to drop us a line and introduce yourself. If we are available, we will do our best to lock in your dates. We have a few units throughout the city, so if you are interested in long term furnished rentals let us know - we have solutions.

Below is a rough guide on the top attractions and the distance we are away from each. Please note that each distance is in driving time. Uber and Lyft is very inexpensive in Chicago - drop us a line if you need help setting up an account. We are within walking distance to public transportation - another easy option to get around!

Please be very clear about the total number of guests when booking this home. Anybody that will be entering our home is considered a guest, regardless of if they stay overnight. This home is a good fit for 6 to 16 guests, but no more than that. If you are trying to host a large group, there will be additional charges. Our neighbors are very dear friends of ours and we are very discerning about the groups that we allow to rent.

Unbeatable view in the best location

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 18 guys, the space was really comfortable for that number (could have even fit a few more). The view is also excellent. I would highly recommend this place for any group wanting to experience all Chicago has to offer. Annie and Chase were very accommodating as well, which was an added bonus. Thanks for such a great place and great stay.

Better than what you see in the pictures

  • 5 of 5

This place is so nice, so clean, very stylish that you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s house. Killer location in Old Town with great bars and restaurants all easily walkable and it’s very close to the train. The roof deck view is to die for and if you are a big group it’s not that expensive. Annie and Chase answered questions rapidly, they were great hosts. I highly recommend it!

Excellent location and a great overall value!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time here, it's really perfect for large groups. Annie was an excellent host and would respond in minutes. The place is very clean and spacious. We slept 18 people extremely comfortably. The location is in the heart of Old Town, walkable to tons of cute shops and restaurants. You will fall in love of the view from the Roof Deck. I highly recommended this place!

Not as Advertised

  • 3 of 5

This was my first time using a VRBO as I was brining customers to the city as a “Thanks” for their business. After checking in to the unit, we quickly discovered that there wasn’t enough linens to accommodate all that were staying (6). I texted my contact and informed him that we needed more linens and was told “ok”. After the first night I again sent another text as we never received the sheets. I was asked if the beds weren’t made prior and I informed him that there were 6 men and we don’t sleep together! He then understood and had extra sent. The listing stated sleeping up to 20 and I don’t see it. The unit also looked more worn than the pictures and there was no shade/blinds where the nook with the bed was. So my guest had to sleep with the street light right there. The back stairway and deck will need to be looked at as there are loose boards and the stairwell does move. It was functional and was in a cool neighborhood, but does need “fleshing up”. Also, please trim the tree in the back! Overall, it was as I said “Functional”.

This was a wonderful place for our big group!

  • 5 of 5

The kitchen worked excellently for group cooking. Plus, the space was clean and I liked the organization. The bus line into the city is literally close so it is incredibly convenient. The vibe of the property is very cool and Annie was extremely responsive. I would definitely stay here again!

Bait and Switch

  • 1 of 5

Unfortunately, me and my friends arrived in Chicago to celebrate an old friends birthday in the heart of Chicago where our listed rental was. We were immediately booted to another location in an outlying area some 20 minutes from the Old Town area where all the action and sightseeing is. We had to take an Uber whenever we went out. We also discovered another group of women at the same dingy quarters who were also booted there under false pretenses. We were told there plumbing issues, they were told there was a flood. The place we wound up in was OK, if that's what I knew I was getting. It was much shabbier than the original and out of the way. It was not rental ready and lacked many necessities. This property is managed by Annie and Chase and I urge you not to rent from them. This is a clear case of bait and switch.

We are also very distressed that VRBO did nothing to assist us and also advised us that they are not responsible for the condition of their listings. I guess I never realized that VRBO simply wants to take a commission and do absolutely nothing for it. I know, i'll think twice before spending lots of money for lodging with no-one to protect me against crooks or simply people who they think they can take advantage of. Signed - VERY disappointed in this experience AND WITH VRBO itself.
