Another wonderful week at Ettowah Cove Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We returned home in early September from our third wonderful vacation from the cottage on Ettowah Cove. Each year we enjoy the house and the peaceful surroundings even more and can't wait for our next return.

As other reviewers have commented, the house, lake and outdoor space, including the spectacular gardens, are remarkable. Every detail of this home is provides a warm welcome and relaxation. While we enjoy all that area has to offer, spending time on the cottage's deck looking out over the water to the mountains, swimming and kayaking, and enjoying a fire and the stars at night are the highlights of the week for our family.

Krista could not be a more gracious or accommodating host. She is incredibly responsive, welcoming and has thought of every detail guests might need. Thank you!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Amy, for this wonderful review! I love how families, like yours, return year after year to our cottage to create special memories with their children. The activities you described; sitting around a campfire, stargazing, kayaking, and simply enjoying the view of the water is what we love most. Since our children are now grown, we are so happy to know our traditions continue and we can share this special place with others. As always, you are welcome back anytime. Thanks again, Krista.

Tranquil and lovely

  • 5 of 5

This cottage on Kimball Lake really could not be more perfectly situated - the lake, gardens, and view of the mountains beyond are breathtakingly pretty. Beautifully decorated and meticulously clean, this home is stocked with everything you'd ever need to have a perfect lakeside holiday.

Though I tend to be one of those people who can't wait for the next dinner out, because this home and the lake are so spectacular, I was happy to cook and just enjoy dinners with our family on the deck every night. I should also add that I don't know that we've ever rented a property with a kitchen that was better equipped or more organized than this one is -- and with Sherman and Weston Farms so nearby, it was a pleasure to be able to buy fresh vegetables, meats, cheeses, dairy products -- and prepare all of our meals at the cottage.

While we have had many positive experiences with properties through HomeAway through the years, this one was, without a doubt, one of the best. Krista has gone out of her way to provide her guests with a warm welcome, and a great experience, from start to finish.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Robin, for taking the time to write such a wonderful review! I am so glad to know you took advantage of the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed dinner lakeside with your family. When the sun is setting behind the mountains and the lake is calm with the sunset reflecting on the water, it is hard to imagine dining anywhere else. I hope you and your family will return soon! Krista

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is our second summer renting this cottage, both years we had the most perfect vacation experience. This lakefront cottage has everything you can possibly ask for: a private beach, floating dock, kayaks, hot tub, gazebo, deck, fire pit, fireplace, patio with lounge chairs, and beautiful flowers all on a private road. Krista makes sure you feel welcomed and all your needs are met. We can not thank her enough for making this the best summer rental experience by far that we ever had. Fryeburg is a beautiful quiet town. We enjoyed buying milk, meat and vegetable at the nearby local farms. I should mention that the kitchen in the cottage is so well equipped that you will want to cook there. Hiking in Evans Notch is wonderful, beautiful trails, but they are not as crowded as the trails in the New Hampshire White Mountains. The country roads around Fryeburg are great for biking and there is mountain bike options as well. We just returned and already reserved this cottage for next year.

Owner's Response: Stephanie, thank you for your outstanding review! Many readers will find your experience and recommendations very helpful and informative. The nearby vegetable farms (Sherman’s & Weston’s) are a treasure during the summer-fall months with their local produce. The hiking in Evans Notch is exactly as described: close by, quiet, and beautiful. I hope your stay next summer will be even better! Thank you again, Krista.

Wonderful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My wife, three young kids, and I just got back from a wonderful week at this perfect lakeside cottage. We had an amazing week. The home has everything we could have ever needed, and Krista (the owner) was wonderful, including providing us with excellent recommendations for restaurants and family-friendly hikes. We spent our days exploring the area, hiking the beautiful nearby trails, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and just relaxing and enjoying the view. This home is the perfect combination of being away from it all while still accessible to North Conway and all that it has to offer. I can’t recommend it enough and we hope to be back again soon.

Perfect way to celebrate a 50th anniversary!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent cottage. We will definitely be coming back next year. All amenities that could possibly be needed were there. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. We spent the week with 3 generations to celebrate grandma's and grandpa's 50th wedding anniversary (grandparents, children, grandchild). Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Fishing, birdwatching, kayaking, playing in the sand on the beach, drinking wine by the bonfire, hot tubbing, bear watching (yes we were visited by a bear). Great vacation. Something to do for everyone.

Great place Krista.

A Charming Escape

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with your two young children spent a glorious week at this cottage on Kimball Pond. The cottage immediately felt like home when we arrived. The rooms were neat and tidy and decorated beautifully. No detail was overlooked: little bud vases with fresh flowers adorned the bedside tables; pancake mix and syrup awaited us on the kitchen counter; a hidden closet full of board games... we all enjoyed discovering every bit of the house as soon as we entered the door. Every room had a view of the peaceful pond. The beach was sandy and clean and the water was crystal clear. The kids enjoyed playing in the water and jumping off the swim platform. North Conway is a cute town that we ventured to on occasion, but spent most of our time relaxing at the cottage. Our favorite parts of the day were the quite mornings enjoying coffee and watching the loons swim across the pond, and our family kayak rides in the evening. We made wonderful memories here and can't wait to return for another visit!
