About Jason Gotch

I am a mountain biker and love hiking, kayaking, and other outdoor activities. I volunteer with Georgia Appalachian trail club as a maintainer of section 4.1 and 4.6, also as district 4 leader. Since I and my wife bought this property in 2010, we have lived here for 6 years, and it is our piece of heaven. We have put an incredible amount of time and money over the past 6 years to make this and continue to make this a mountain paradise. Now we open it to you and hope you will enjoy your stay and love this place as much as we do.

Jason Gotch purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Jason Gotch chose Dahlonega

We love the outdoors and the mountains. It is our dream to own a mountain property. We found this hidden gem in North Georgia after more than a half year house hunting in 2010. We fell in love with the property at the first sight, and spent the last 6 years improving the property. this property is uniquely located in the Chatahoochee National Forest just a half mile from the famous Appalachian Trail. I use to drive up here all the time from the age of 17 with friends to go hiking and had no idea at the time that there was a house here or of course that one day I would live here. Three forks is near by with a short 1 mile hike to beautiful long creek falls. we got incredibly lucky to find this place. no doubt as soon as you drive up to this place you will understand what makes this place so special.

What makes this cabin unique

Only house on mountain. low light pollution, making star gazing great. Amazing long range view from back of house, as well as short range mountain view from front of house. Close proximity to famous Appalachian Trail at Cooper Gap/Justus mountain. When water table is normal or high there is from a tranquil creek walk on property to raucous loud creek walk with waterfall when high. Forest service roads from property can take you to tranquil mountain lake, start of Appalachian Trail, Long creek falls at three forks ,and much much more. Also there is a young organic orchard I am cultivating and slowly expanding. When fruit is in season will sell extra to guests at fair price. Over 2 thousand square feet of decking to take in the view, as well as large stone patio. Private large upper deck for one of the upstairs guest rooms. access to great stone patio from lower level bedroom. Fantastic views from every room in the house. A brand new 6 person 51 jet hot tub with longer, led light, waterfall, and great long range view to enjoy while in the spa. A lot of unique features. Selection of K-cup coffee, hot chocolate, teas, as well we keep some oatmeal and frozen waffles there for guests. We also provide shampoo and body wash for guest use while staying. This is a new listing. For next couple months listed for just 250 night with weekly discount as well. Price will go up to normal low/mid season price soon.

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful property for a long weekend in February. The views were amazing and you could enjoy them on every level of the house. Our girls (2, 4, and 5) had so much fun visiting the chickens and collecting their eggs, hiking, hot tubbing, and roasting marshmallows at the fire pit! The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. Highly recommend!

Peaceful Easy Feeling

  • 5 of 5

Sky Orchard is positively charming and even prettier than the lovely pictures. So warm and welcoming! Jason was most hospitable and helpful in providing directions and recommendations. We arrived to a wonderful basket full of fruit, ingredients for Smore's and lots of firewood, which was much appreciated with the cold weather. The accommodations were perfect for all 8 of us, 6 adults and 2 teens. There are 4 large bedrooms with stunning views of the beautiful mountains and incredibly comfortable bedding and linens. Kitchen is nicely stocked and well appointed. Spacious decks, nice gas grill and wonderful hot tub. Amazing sunrises, sunsets and starry nights! The location was perfect because we felt like we had the entire mountains to ourselves but we were still close to town and other adventurous excursions. We enjoyed the charming town of Dahlonega...the people are all so friendly, the shops are fun and unique and lunch at Capers was awesome! We hiked to an amazing waterfall another day which was spectacular! We look forward to returning again! Thank you Jason!

Gorgeous Cabin with Gorgeous Views!!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented the property over Christmas. As soon as we entered the gates, we were in awe! The property is beautiful inside and out (just as you see in the pictures). To our surprise, a decorated Christmas tree was in the front room welcoming us for the holidays! What a treat! As well as, the fresh eggs and basket of fruit set out in the kitchen. My group of seven fit quite nicely. There is a game room on the first level that is not shown in the pictures too! It got down to 19 degrees while we were there, but the cabin stayed nice and warm and the fireplace was perfect! Though it was too cold for the chickens to gift us with fresh eggs, we enjoyed feeding them every morning. We enjoyed walking up the road to the trails and walking the trails on the property to the creek. I cannot say enough great things! Thank you Jason for the wonderful experience!

Beautiful inside and out.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful views both day and night with a truly gorgeous, comfortable home to enjoy them on. Highly recommend a stay here and the longer the better. Jason and his wife went out of their way to welcome us into their home. The extra touches were the icing on the cake. We had so’more makings, fresh fresh and eggs. They left lights on for us as we would be arriving late and we were greeted by a warm, cozy house. We are already planning our return!

Absolutely Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This house has the best view ever. It is definitely designed for the view inside and out.

I loved the fresh eggs from the chickens and actually got excited getting scraps together for them every day. (in case you don't want to, it's not mandatory)

Jason has been so accommodating before, during and after the stay.

I just wish my people didn't want to shop so much and I could have stayed and explored more of the property. I did make it one day down to a beautiful stream with small waterfalls that is on the property.

I definitely want to come back and stay longer next time.
