Why Colleen and Don chose Victoria

The abundance of variety in scenery, and activities, both recreational, and cultural, really impressed us in Victoria. Biking, whale watching, garden touring, museums, wineries, theatres, the symphony- all in a Pacific island community with Canada's most moderate climate. The ease of manoeuvring around a small town without freeways, and the friendliness of a seaside community that has the charm of the little harbour ferries, all conjures up a peaceful haven separate from the frenzied real world.

What makes this condo unique

Here you really can have the beauty of Victoria nestled at the water's edge without any of the usual downtown intrusions such as noise, congestion, smog, but still have immediate walking access to shops, and restaurants once you leave the condo. How nice to move about on foot, or on a bike to take in the fresh sea air rather than have to fight for a parking spot every time you venture out. Plus the changing panorama on the waterway just off the balcony will encourage you to slow down, and enjoy the captivating scenery and sunsets.

We LOVED LOVED LOVED Victoria and our amazing accommodations! It has been 17 years since we have been there and it was like seeing it all new

again....hmmm, must be our age..



Francis was wonderful - picked us up at the airport, gave us the option of

the scenic road into Victoria which was beautiful, and showed us around the

suite, the parking and the building. We were able to come in to the condo so

early because they had just finished cleaning from the previous renters.



You have a beautiful property there, and so very convenient to everything.

We love walking and in fact did not even rent a car until our last evening so

we could go to the gardens, etc. on the way to the airport the next day. We

walked to Craigdarragh, walked to Fishermans Wharf, Westbay Marina, the

beach, and everything was breathtaking. The weather was quite cool but that did not matter at all. We spent one cooler windy day at the museum and took in 3 Imax shows, and one Saturday was quite rainy so we spent most of the day relaxing in our -home-. I read an entire book from your selection there and Dennis enjoyed channel surfing.....just like at home! And yes, even though it was chilly, we still sat on the balcony with our wine and snacksand took in the amazing view and constant activity on the water!



We did find a favorite place where we felt so at home.....Swans Hotel.

Always entertaining there, and through extensive testing at various

locations Dennis proclaimed their Seafood Chowder as the best in Victoria!

We truly loved all the little brewhouses we checked out as well.



I have already referred you and Francis as well to some people we met there

from Indiana. They go to Victoria about once a year and were this year

staying at Executive House. When we told them how great your place was,

they took down the info so hopefully they will end up there one day.

Mermaid Suite

Wonderful from the first contact with the owners to our last day. The condo is in a perfect location for walking to shops or to the many delightful restaurants and English style pubs.(Two our our favorites were Spinnakers across the water and the Bard and Banker.)

We lacked nothing in the condo, it was clean and very nicely decorated.On arrival Jane was so helpful, she walked us about and explained everything.A very tasty bottle of champagne was a nice treat from Colleen and Don. The water activity was always fun to watch as we sat on the balcony every morning and evening.The water taxis are a great way to get around and it was fun to watch them perform the water ballet.We spent a week and wished we had booked longer. Will definitely pass this on to our friends who are going to Victoria B.C.

We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful Accomodations

Roxanne and I came back up to Victoria to celebrate our one year anniversary hoping to see the major attractions we missed out on last year. Well, we missed many of them again. The Mermaid Suite was so comfortable we found ourselves hanging out in the suite reading and just relaxing more than we thought we would. Our visit was during a warmer than normal period so the AC was great. Being on the main floor, activities on the water could be seen while seated inside but was most enjoyable from the balcony. We still got out for some great road trips and sightseeing. For breakfast we enjoyed walking up to the Jam cafe. Excellent food but be prepared to wait about and hour to get seated (very popular). The water taxi is just feet away from the suite so easy to hop aboard to Fisherman's Wharf for fish and chips and Barb's world famous seafood chowder. The Beach House restaurant in Cordova Bay was also a very good stop for lunch. All in all a wonderful trip and accommodations. Thank you Colleen, Don and Jane.

Owner's Response: Mike and Roxanne - That you returned to Victoria for your 1st anniversary truly shows what memories and fun you had here last year on your honeymoon. I'm so glad that the comforts of the suite including the much needed a/c for your warm stay coaxed you to enjoy a little longer the condo and its lovely views of the interesting waterway traffic below rather than having constant activity. I am hearing about Jam Café's line ups quite often: it does sound good but I so hate to wait for breakfast, maybe we'll also give it a try though. Did you try the kayak rentals on the wharf below? This is the first year they have been so close to our condo and they are really fun on this part of the upper harbor. Thanks again for selecting our place and we look forward to your return. Colleen

Great location

The location was awesome. Within walking distance of the inner harbor and many restaurants. The water taxi was in front of the building so if you didn't want to walk it was right there. Suggestion- if there is a particular restaurant you want to go to make reservations ahead of time.

Disappointing

We left after 8 (of 21) days there. We advised the owner that we were leaving as the condition of their condo did not meet expectations as described with too many issues that left us very disappointed. The owner’s response was an emailed unprofessional personal attack. No apologies.

The issues included intermittent TV reception; dirty carpets (especially the beige bedroom carpet); dangerous rickety glass and metal occasional tables; no grab bars in the bath/shower combo; towel rail in bathroom barely attached; sliding door (only access to fresh air) to tiny balcony wouldn’t open on day 7; no windows to open due to window air conditioning units (very noisy) in living room and bedroom leaving one to suffer the noise or sleep on top of the bed otherwise it was too hot and claustrophobic; upholstered seats of furniture had little or no support; dishes were old, mismatched, chipped and stained;

The "spectacular views" of the (commercial) harbor, other than the cute water taxi dock below the condo, were ugly comprising noisy shipyards with large cranes belching fumes. Not relaxing at all and certainly not conducive to romantic breakfast on the tiny balcony or viewing the harbor from the bed.

In summation, this condo needs serious maintenance, deep cleaning and upgrades.

Owner's Response: This retired, late 70's couple pursued their long ago booked Victoria plans in spite of failing health, pain and eyesight issues. Much help was provided to prepare them for their 3 week stay with my 52 emails of suggestions, plans, bus routes, tours, restaurants. Never have I offered any guests so much help - to then be so poorly treated. In spite of them knowing a king bdrm condo would not work for them with their problems, they refused to "go to the trouble of opening nightly" the sofa bed on which he slept causing him to become increasingly uncomfortable and tired further preventing any daytime leisure or outings. They didn't book a car, or take a tour, and were horrified at crowds sitting at picnic tables by the water when they followed my suggestion to catch a cute harbour ferry from our condo's wharf to enjoy fish and chips at a much loved, fun outdoor restaurant. NOTHING was suitable. Even the operation of the tv became difficult when they proceeded to re program w/o guidance so the tv company had then to be consulted to restore functionality. And the sliding patio door became jammed in its track - for only them. I arranged in spite of their much delayed flight in at midnight for them still to be privately brought to the condo with baggage assistance and a grocery stop, but even this was not paid for until days later when it needed to be requested before they suddenly booked return flights home w/o any advance notice leaving the very day on which they told me. As critical as they were, they were sadly beyond their ability to find comfort and pleasure or to recognize that travel with these limitations was no longer what it had once had been: in their minds, their misery was our doing. Perhaps an easier version for them to accept? While here, the BC wildfires burned out of control bringing much ash particulate into Victoria which she continually referred to as dust or dirt in the condo no matter the number of times this was explained. On an earlier trip, she had actually stopped by our harbour view and liked it enough to reserve for these 3 future weeks, yet ranted about the harbour's ugliness on her return visit when the view was unchanged, still looking out over this interesting harbour of barges, tugs, rowers and wildlife. Does their 1 star review of our 64 good reviews over 14 years tell more about our condo or their unwillingness to accept responsibility? By the end of their shortened stay, I wished them - and us - peace and comfort.

Great condo in excellent location

A lovely condo in an excellent location. My son and I stayed here for 4 nights. He slept on the pull-out sofa bed and I slept on the king-sized bed in the bedroom. Both were very comfortable. This place had everything we needed and both Coleen and Jane were very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

These senior Arizona guests selected this condo based on its website view pictures - which are exactly as illustrated - and some guests say in person, even better with the sunshine and busy harbour activity below. Sadly they were very uncommunicative their entire stay about the welcome champagne awaiting them, the special harbour orchestra concert they attended after I ensured they knew about it, the immediate, brand new replacement of the microwave which suddenly stopped working, plus helpful dining and sight seeing recommendations. Disappointing was the beyond normal cleaning time needed on their departure slowing down the next guests' check in. Cancellations any later than this will provide you with a refund of 90% of whatever rent we collect from others for the cancelled time, assuring that the total rent we receive from the new renters is the same amount as you had agreed to pay.

I always suggest purchasing vacation insurance to protect yourselves. I don’t sell it, but can assist in making recommendations if you want that.
