About the Property

4 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 6

Built in the 1800's, Basset House is a wonderful, restful place to experience Pennsylvania Dutch Country. You enter the house via a central hallway, seeing a beautiful living room to your left, the kitchen to the rear, and the staircase with original wooden bannister to your right. The living room has comfortable chairs and its old charm, but also modern amenities like a flat screen TV with cable, an Apple TV, and Netflix. Next to the living room is a full dining room, with built-in cabinets. The kitchen also has that older feel but is equipped with a new range and dishwasher. Behind the kitchen is an enclosed porch with more comfortable chairs and a small table, making it the perfect place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.

The upstairs has four bedrooms, two with double beds, one with a twin bed, and one with a crib. All mattresses are Tempurpedic. The bathroom includes a tub/shower.

Downtown Lititz Pennsylvania takes you back to a simpler time. Lined with small shops, including an English Pub, and old fashioned ice-cream parlor, a candy story, the Wilbur Chocolate Factory, and numerous antique and craft shops, the town is a wonderful reprieve from the rigors of our every day lives. Get in your car and within minutes you are in the heart of Amish Country, where you can see the beautifully maintained farms. You can also travel to the City of Lancaster (5 miles away), and see a show at the country's oldest continuos running live theater (the Fulton), visit numerous art galleries, attend a minor league baseball game, and buy provisions at the nearly 200 year old Central Market.

Antiquing also abounds in the area, with numerous small shops in and around Lititz, and larger antique malls to the north in Adamstown.

For Civil War buffs, Gettysburg is about one hour to the west. On your way there, stop at the quaint old riverside towns of Columbia, Marietta and Wrightsville.

More modern amenities are also not far. The region boasts four amusement parks -- Dutch Wonderland for smaller kids, Hershey and Dorney Parks for older kids, and Knoebles Grove, an older-style park set in the woods with wooden coasters and fun houses.

You can also travel to Philadelphia by either train or car and experience the galleries, museums, restaurants and other attractions.

Once you arrive back home, you are walking distance to a number of restaurants, or you can cook for yourself in the fully equipped kitchen. Relax then on the enclosed back porch, or in the comfortable living room equipped with an Apple TV, Bose Music system, and an extensive music library. While the home was built in the 1800's and maintains many of its original features, it has the modern touches you want, including wireless access, Tempurpedic beds, a dishwasher, and first floor laundry.
