About Brian & Kris Kimball
We live in the beautiful state of Vermont, in a cabin, in the woods. What's a better contrast than a beach house on Florida's wonderful Gulf Coast! We love to travel and have been VRBO fans for finding unique and fun properties. It's such a better way to vacation. Hotels are so impersonal and less comfortable. And having a property in Florida is a coming home of sorts. One of us grew up right here!
Why Brian & Kris Kimball chose Saint Petersburg
Living in Vermont, we decided it was time to buy a property in Florida to escape the deep freeze. and spend more time with family. My wife grew up in St. Petersburg and has fond memories of coming to Gulfport as a young girl scout where she learned how to sail at the Guflport Marina. Back in the seventies, Gulfport was a little fishing community. Today it is a thriving and art filled beach community. We are perfectly located to be able to walk to all of the fun Gulfport has to offer. And we are a short drive to award winning beaches and downtown life. Less than a half an hour from two major airports, travel here is a breeze.
What makes this House unique
This house, built in 1960 was in need of some real love to bring it back to life. It was tired and dated. After lots of scrubbing and painting, Gulfwood is a sweet house with all the modern comforts travelers expect. Phase 2 plans include adding a paver patio out back, a privacy fence, outdoor shower and new paver drive, walkway and sitting area. Stay tuned...

This property is just perfect, and the owners were more than willing to communicate and accommodate. First, location: I have been to Florida A LOT, and had never heard of Gulfport so was a little hesitant. But boy, what a gem of a town. Its like one of those hidden pearls that you are so grateful to stumble upon. This house is close to everything, close meaning 1-4 blocks that is a beautiful walk. We stayed with my sisters family, so a total of 4 adults and 4 kids and we were all comfortable and wanted for nothing. During our quick stay we visited Johns Pass and the beach near there, (Madeira I think). It was a quick 15 min drive and easy to find. We also hit Clearwater beach which was a little further of a jaunt (45 min KT so). Initially we wanted to stay closer to either of those locations and had some disappointment that budget wouldn’t allow for it - but I wouldn’t have had it any other way now. You should have no hesitations about this rental. It’s beautiful! Comfortable! Clean! Owners seemed awesome and generous with their beach chairs, towels, mats, etc. this trip was so special for my family and I extend my greatest gratitude to Kris and Brian for sharing their home!
Perfect lovely home!
We were very impressed with this property. Updated and very clean❤️ Location was perfect and close to everything. I would definitely return and recommend this property to anyone looking for a place that is a short distance from St Petes at a reasonably price near a real cool town of Gulf Port. Thanks for making our stay stress free!
So glad you had a good time. Cleanliness is super important to us and we're so happy that you appreciated and commented on it. Hope you come back and visit again.
What a wonderful town!! The house was perfect and couldn't ask for a better location!!
Great house in a great location!
We came down to Gulfport for Thanksgiving with family. The house was just as represented. It was very clean & updated. The oven display was a bit tricky but they explained the part was ordered & we were still able to cook for Thanksgiving. The location is perfect to stroll the shops & restaurants. A very short walk to the middle of everything. Check out Tuesday Market-lots of local crafts people selling a variety of foods & arts. Small, lovely beach within walking distance. The house comes with lots of beach accessories-tubes, kites, chairs, bikes. We would definitely consider renting this house again if we came back to Gulfport!
The house looked average on the outside, but once we stepped in we were impressed. Great location.
Great place to stay!
Our family stayed here for the extended holiday weekend. It appears the owners of the property have been remodeling the inside and have made it simple, cute, and functional. We especially appreciated the fact that the home was stocked with the little things that are often missing from rentals like coffee filters, toilet paper, paper towels, ziplocs, soap, and plastic containers for leftovers. It's within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. A drug store and grocery stores are within a few minutes' drive. Great stay!!
Carla, so glad your family had a good stay. And it's nice to know that the little things we do to help make your stay easier are appreciated. Hope to have you visit again.
Check out Gulfport's many restaurants and beach bars. Stroll the art walk twice a month and the weekly fresh market. So many things to do within walking distance.
