The street is quiet and picturesque – bougainvillea accented tree-shaded colonial entrances that open onto charming courtyards. Some people say it's the prettiest street in San Miguel! A peaceful morning is enjoyed among the flowers with the gurgling of the old-world fountain providing a soothing melody.
The bright turquoise door gives this house its name - Casa Turquesa. It's easy to spot!
The residence includes a one bedroom, two bath ground level home and a one bedroom apartment above with its own entrance. The lower bedroom has french doors opening onto the patio for delightful afternoon breezes. Upstairs, a modern casita with a private terrace offers a view overlooking the city for early or late musings.
The living areas are warm and inviting, with a variety of art pieces illuminating San Miguel's creative spirit. Your guests will enjoy lingering in the cozy spaces, warming themselves by the fireplace.
Neighborhood restaurants and shops are handy when the urge for a delicious postre or huevos rancheros strike you. From Colonia San Antonio, it is a leisurely walk or inexpensive taxi ride along cobblestone streets to the town square, El Jardin and only 2 blocks from the San Juan de Dios market. You can't beat this location!
The house is perfect for two couples or a family of 4. There are two sofa beds (one upstairs and one downstairs) that allow for a total of 8 guests (at additional cost, upon request).
Although we prefer to rent both the upstairs and downstairs to a single tenant, occasionally the two residences are offered separately. Contact us for separate pricing. Each residence can accommodate up to four guests (additional cost over 2) and has its own kitchen. Amenities include house cleaning service, high-speed internet and free calls to/from the United States and Canada.
Our housekeeper Rocio works three days a week, and for a slight additional charge, she can shop for you and prepare authentic and delicious Mexican meals.

About David Goldstein
We are retired New Yorkers now living in Florida. We have owned and loved our home in San Miguel for almost 20 years.
David Goldstein purchased this House in 1995
Why David Goldstein chose Colonia San Antonio
San Miguel is a wonderful community with a year round climate. Any time is good to visit!
What makes this House unique
It's in a terrific neighborhood...near a large food market...not far from the center of town, but far enough to be tranquil and secure. A short walk to El Jardin, Monet's for breakfast, La Frontera for comida, Santos for music & dancing, great location!

We had a wonderful month at Casa Turquesa on calle Virgel in San Antonio, truly a pretty spot in a mostly residential area with bourgenvilla blooming, brilliantly colored houses, a little urban farm with the most beautiful chickens. Ten minutes from the San Juan de Dios market where you get a lot of your shopping needs fulfilled, a 20 minute walk to the Hardin or a 10-15 minute cab ride to and from town depending on traffic (40 pesos). The house was spacious, with a separate self contained apartment, full well equipped albeit slightly dated kitchen sufficient to host a small cocktail party or dinner. The house comes with almost everything you might need including telephones with free calling in the US or Canada, maid service, heaters for the cold mornings. Issues with the house, such as happen normally, were promptly dealt with professionally. Our overall experience was truly enhanced by having this place as a base, comfortable and secure.
Loved our stay
Loved the authentic feel of the house along with our stay in San Miguel de Allende! We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and family
Thank you very much for choosing our home for your vacation to SMA. We look forward to your future visits!
An easy place to stay.
As a single traveler, I stayed in the casita on the second floor for the month of November.
Casa Turquesa is simply a very easy place to stay. Charles was extremely helpful with email communication and making arrangements. The on-site staff is outstanding. The apartment is simple yet elegant with lots of windows and an excellent kitchen. There are three gas heaters, including one in the bathroom, which definitely helped in this cold month! The internet service is very reliable.
The apartment is located in a beautiful section of San Antonio with its eye-catching houses. Nearby is mercado San Juan de Dios which has fruit stands and excellent small family counter restaurants. It did take me longer to walk to the Jardin than the other reviewers, although it's a beautiful walk. And city buses to Centro stop nearby.
Overall my time at Casa Turquesa passed very quickly and enjoyably.
Nice place to stay for our family of 5
We stayed here for 2 weeks with our three kids (age 3, 8, and 10). The kids liked it. We liked it. The kids stayed upstairs in the second floor casita that had its own bedroom, living room w/ sleeper sofa, bathroom, and kitchen. They could go up there during the day for some quiet time as needed. At night, after they went to bed, the adults had the whole downstairs main house to ourselves. Very relaxing. There's also a living room and den downstairs, so I could sneak off and read for a bit in relative silence while the kids played in the main living room downstairs.
Overall, there was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was decently equipped with plenty of cooking gear. Full size fridge that was COLD! Washer/dryer in upstairs casita works great.
We stayed in June where the daytime temps sometimes hit 85 F or so. It never got hot in the downstairs house, and just a bit warm in the upstairs. I worried about not having air conditioning but we didn't need it at all.
Only downside was the fireworks at weird hours of the early morning and late evening. Some crazy festival was going on (which included an awesome parade on a Sunday!), but the fireworks at 6 am weren't that fun. Not a problem with the house itself, just a quirk of staying in San Miguel de Allende apparently. We could, however, usually see the fireworks from the rooftop terrace above the 2nd floor casita. Pretty cool overall!
Location was pretty good, though it's a 10 minute walk or so to get into the downtown centro area. The local market is only <5 minutes away and offers tons of fresh fruits and vegetables and a few "comedores" with great local cuisine for just a few USD per meal (50 pesos I think). Taxis were plentiful from the main street maybe 2 minutes from the house. We walked to the main bus station multiple times for day trips out of town - maybe 10 minutes or so from the house. On the way to the bus station is a nice discount grocery store called Neto that is dirt cheap and clean and offers most of the staples (just no produce and no fresh meat).
We enjoyed the location being a little bit away from the "touristy" downtown area because it's probably quieter at Casa Turquesa that way. And the local restaurants and market that caters to local Mexicans seemed more authentic and less expensive than the more touristy restaurants in the centro that cater more toward tourists and ex-pats.
Overall, a great place to stay in San Miguel de Allende.
We (3 women) spent 6 days at Casa Turquesa and enjoyed our stay. It was a delightful setting and a very well equipped house. There was a slight miscommunication in the beginning about getting the key, but the agency was so sweet as to give us a bottle of wine for any inconvenience caused. There was a lovely bouquet of fresh flowers on the dining room table upon our arrival. It's a sunny house with various seating possibilities outside and indoors so that we could each enjoy our own private space if desired. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and we could walk to the center in about 20 minutes and to the Ancha in about 10. I felt safe at all times. We didn't cook our meals, but the kitchen had everything needed if we had decided to do so. I slept on the couch that converts to a bed upstairs and the mattress was too soft to my liking, but may be perfect for someone else. There are 3 TVs downstairs and one upstairs so it would be possible to watch different programs if desired. The maid is very friendly and helpful. I would gladly stay there again.
