Fantastic 2 story 1840's Creole Cottage with private courtyard and patio off main bedroom. Only 1.5 blocks to great restaurants with all types of cuisine, bars, antique shops, eateries, local apparel and other retail boutiques on Magazine Street which is a designated Cultural District in the City.
Minutes to Downtown and the French Quarter by the Magazine bus or a beautiful stroll through the Historic Garden District to Saint Charles to catch the Streetcar. Safe and quiet family neighborhood.
After Hurricane Katrina, we found this 1840's historic property and it was love at first sight but needed lots of TLC. With the help of family in New Orleans, we renovated the property keeping its historic features while adding all modern amenities.
This beautiful house has been lovingly renovated to preserve the original hardwood floors throughout, the brick fireplaces, the antique bargeboard wainscoting downstairs and wood staircase and banisters.
It has a large open living room and dining room downstairs and 2 adjoining bedrooms upstairs. The bedroom has a memory foam mattress and we have been told by guests "it's like sleeping on a cloud." The second sleeping area upstairs, is arranged like a sitting room but has a fold out queen memory foam sofa bed, as well. For additional sleeping, the downstairs living room sofa converts to a queen sized bed with memory foam mattress. This home comfortably accommodates 6 and feels very spacious with 12 ft. ceilings at 1,100 sq. ft.
This home also has central air and heat with ceiling fans in each room. Wall mounted flat screens with cable TV in each bedroom and Wi-Fi throughout the house. A brand new kitchen with granite countertops, all new stainless appliances (refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, keurig coffee maker) and everything you need to cook, if you decide to relax and entertain at home. There are 2 new marble tiled baths, one upstairs with a dual shower and seat, and one downstairs. There is a new washer and dryer with plenty of towels and linens for you to use.
Our vacation home has been described by many guests as a peaceful place to come home to after their exciting day seeing all the fabulous city sights. The location is unbeatable. We're only 10 minutes to Downtown and the French Quarter or 15 minutes Uptown to Audubon Park and Zoo, with it's beautiful views of the Mississippi River. Walking tours meet only a few blocks from the house to tour the Garden District and Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 across from the famous Commanders Palace Restaurant.
You can walk to great places to dine, grab some wine or shop til you drop for antiques and local fare. Nice neighborhood. Park only 2 blocks away. Public transportation is great. Super for a stroll around this Historic and Cultural District to view its many historic homes. You can walk to Mardi Gras and Irish Channel parades and frequent festivals up and down Magazine St. And, the beautiful private patio with its fountain is a peaceful haven to relax after a long day.
Afterall, Our home is your home...enjoy yourself!
