About Cara Brenza

We are from New Mexico in the summertime, NOLA in the winter. My boyfriend Earl and myself purchased this home together. Earl has two kids living in the area and 5 grand kids, he got married in NOLA over 50 years ago, I am a new transplant. Earl is retired, I still work remotely as a Real Estate Agent in New Mexico.

Cara Brenza purchased this guest house in 2016

Why Cara Brenza chose Bywater

Off street parking was a must for us, my boyfriend is a car collector. We really liked the double deep lot for outside activities, gardening, sitting on the back patio etc. We also liked the floorplan of the back rental unit, with it's private bedrooms and backyard deck. The deck was built in 2017, back unit remodeled 2016. The front shotgun is still as we purchased it.

What makes this guest house unique

Being so close to the local pubs in Bywater and music events were important to us, being part of the neighborhood. Also the crescent river park was a huge bonus to getting into the French Market on our bikes, we love the farmers market on Wednesdays 1-4 pm.

We had an amazing stay at the Barely Bywater Bungalow! The place is totally private and extremely well located--easy to walk to all the cool spots in Bywater! Also right next door to Music Box! Parking was super simple. We loved the back porch and the cat family was adorable. We did laundry and watched TV, it was very comfortable. I do wish we could have used the bikes, but understand that could be complicated for the owners...

Thank you Cara. Amazing all around.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review, yes we would love to let the bikes go, but as you said the liability could be complicated. I miss my kitties, I'm glad they have company. Hope you can stay again in the future!

Great house!

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. Close enough to everything but in a very quiet area. My kids enjoyed the backyard. We would definitely recommend it!

Ocean Springs, ms

Quaint, quiet, relaxing stay.

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay! Awesome property, in a quiet neighborhood, dead end street. A wonderful change from the usual busy spots in New Orleans, but close to everything you want to see! Only minutes away from the French Quarter with out all of the tourist down falls. It is off the beaten path but worth it! The back porch and yard was great to come back to and relax after a busy day running around town. There are many great local places to hang and get delicious food (Crepe Place was amazing!)! The space is newly renovated and has all the amenities you need, we used the washer/dryer combo a few times, having a 4 year old in tow we got sticky a lot and I loved being able to wash the clothes rather than haul the dirty messes home! Enjoyed the designated off the street parking which is rare in NOLA. We visit NOLA frequently for pleasure and work and will be booking Barely Bywater Bungalow every chance we get, it feels like a home away from home! I recommend this property for both work trips and vacations, it has everything for both long and short stays.... pretty much I love everything about it!

Great stay in Bywater

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Bywater! We had no problems checking in. The host was responsive to all inquiries. The home was very clean, incredibly comfortable, and had everything you would need. It is a short Uber/Lyft/cab ride to the French Quarter. We really liked the neighborhood and visited many of the bars and restaurants that were recommended by the hosts. I would definitely recommend staying at this property and checking out Bywater.

The entire layout of the property was great. I loved sitting on the deck and just looking into the clear night sky. We truly enjoyed ourselves we barely even noticed the neighbors. We will definitely be coming back to New Orleans in the near future!
