The Morgan Creek Cottage sits at the foot of Moore’s Knob in the beautiful Sauratown Mountains of Stokes County, North Carolina. Ideally located on the north side of Hanging Rock State Park, vast views of the Blue Ridge Mountains fill the northern horizon. Open skies and a rural setting make night-time star-gazing a simple pleasure. Deer and turkey are commonly seen grazing the property and Perigrine falcons can be seen hunting nearly every day.
In addition to countless hiking trails in and around the state park, the area is also home to the Green Heron Club (an outfitter for water activities on the Dan River by day and a craft beer/music venue by night), the Stokes County Arts Council (hosting performances and exhibits throughout the year), and is near
the Yadkin Valley Wine Trail.
The house provides 2 bedrooms, one master suite with a queen size bed and full bath on the main floor, and two twin beds in a bedroom on the upper floor. The full bathroom offers a shower-stall and separate garden tub. An additional half bath is located on the main floor. The fully furnished kitchen and living room
are in an open plan arrangement and provide access to a porch that overlooks the forest. A bonus game loft overlooks the living room on the second floor. The main floor has hard wood floors throughout with carpeting on the upper half-floor. The back entrance to the home has an accessible entrance for those with mobility impairments. This cozy cottage is perfect for a weekend getaway or a week-long summer vacation for a group of up to four adults.

The Cottage was beautiful and comfortable. Only stayed two evening, but it felt like home.
It was nice to meet Julie and how welcoming she was
Thank you for taking the extra time to submit a review of the Morgan Creek Cottage. You were great guests and look forward to a future stay with us.
It was a nice comfortable place. It was ideal in terms of location to Hanging Rock Park
Cozy Cottage right next to Hanging Rock Park
My family and I had such a nice experience in this cottage.
The hillside behind the house is gorgeous (especially when we were there, as the leaves were changing). The star gazing is wonderful from the side porch, and my kids had a great time kicking a ball around in the large field.
The cottage itself is nicely laid out and decorated with the living room, kitchen (with plenty of cooking utensils), master bedroom (with bath), and second bath downstairs. The upstairs has a bedroom that's perfect for two kids, and a loft area with a chase that would nice for reading.
The location is ideally situated, being right next to Hanging Rock Park and a short drive to Danberry.
Finally, Julie proved to be an excellent host and made sure we had an enjoyable stay.
We'll be back!
Dear Noel: Thank you so very much for your lovely review, and so happy to hear you will be back!
I am thankful for you and your family at this Thanksgiving season.
With kind regards, Julie Morgan
Perfect location to visit Hanging Rock State Park!
We were in town to participate in the SwimrunNC race held at Hanging Rock State Park and booked this cottage for its proximity to that event. The cottage was well appointed, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. And the setting - utterly serene. Julie, the owner, has an eclectic collection of folk art - some of which she and her daughters have created - and provides the acquisition history of some her more unusual pieces in a binder filled with other helpful information about local attractions. Julie was also wonderful with pre-arrival communication and information about the area. Upon arrival, she gave us suggestions about local plays, auctions and off-the-beaten path eateries - even offering us a ride! We would absolutely stay here again.
There are two bathrooms both on the first floor and only one of these is a full bath. Not an issue for us to share a bathroom, but something to consider depending on the mix of your traveling group.
Thank you, Julie!
We had an amazing weekend
This is a special place.
It is perfectly placed to have a wonderful unplugged time. Being so close to the park was a definite benefit and soaking in that tub really help after all our hiking. The house is very comfy, cozy, and tastefully decorated, good light throughout the day. We had fun cooking our meals and the kitchen was well stocked for all the things we made.
We spent a lot of time outside, it is on a pretty hill on the edge of the park, and you can see the mountain right there. I hadn't seen stars like that for like 20 years, it was breathtaking. We enjoyed a sunset that lasted forever, laying on a blanket in the grass in the back.
We did meet Ron and Julie, wonderful hosts.
We will come back!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this fabulous review! We appreciate it beyond words! And it was great to meet you! Please come back! With kindest regards Julie Morgan
Everything we wanted and more!
Cozy, private and relaxing! The cottage was clean, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed and more! The tub was an amazing bonus after a long day hiking!
