Overview

About the property

This upscale and unique 1926 Florida bungalow, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, is located in the historic Laurel Park District of Sarasota. It features the charm of the old with the convenience of the new. The 1300 square foot home, with original old pine floors, was totally and elegantly renovated in 2017. Furnished with care and attention, this home will encourage relaxation and fun.

You’re sure to love the enclosed front porch, where you can sit and watch the neighborhood pass by while having your morning coffee or eating dinner. You can also sit in the landscaped yard, the dining room or the large, modern eat-in kitchen. The house is air conditioned using a state of the art heat pump that is both efficient and quiet. Each of the bedrooms also has a ceiling fan driven by DC motors for quiet operation. All appliances, including the washer and dryer, are top quality and have been selected for ease of use.

Enjoy your music files or stream your favorite internet stations over your Bluetooth enabled device and through the Samsung 300 watt sound system using our WiFi network. Enjoy the latest movies through the Netflix or Amazon Prime video library. And there is full access to cable stations on the Samsung HDTV and Xfinity voice activated X1 cable system.

Our bungalow is located in historic Laurel Park, a half block from the Burns Court section, complete with the famous Sarasota Film Society in Burns Court Cinema and Owen's Fish Camp. We are a 10 minute walk to Main Street and its many restaurants, shopping and a bowling alley at Evie's. Whole Foods is a three minute drive. All of Sarasota's many cultural activities, such as opera, dance, theater, jazz and other performing arts, are a short drive or walk away. Other activities, such as the Mote Aquarium, Baltimore Orioles spring training, public and private golf courses, sailing and canoeing, Selby Botanical Gardens, the Ringling Museum, the fabulous Saturday Farmers Market, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, and the Ca d'Zan, are all minutes away. The highly acclaimed Bobby Jones Municipal Golf Course offering 47 holes of landscaped beauty is a short 15 minute drive.

And then there's the beach. Siesta Key Beach was ranked by many, including Conde Nast Magazine and TripAdvisor, and one of the best in the US, and best in the world by Travelers's Choice. If you're looking for a smaller beach, you can choose from Crescent Beach, Turtle Beach, Lido Beach or Longboat Key. Those willing to travel more than 15 minutes have endless choices, but our favorite is having dinner with our feet in the sand at the Sandbar Restaurant in Anna Maria Island.

If you need more space, we have another unit on the same property, the Devonshire Carriage House, a fully equipped luxury one bedroom apartment. Refer to VRBO listing # 996940 for additional information.

Convenience with Character

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a month in the bungalow. It is well equipped and the owner's are very welcoming and responsive. We could walk to the beautiful bayfront, Marie Selby Gardens, Burns Court, Towles Court, and Main Street. We even walked to St. Armand's Circle (3.3 miles one way). Other historic and cultural sites were within an easy drive.

Perfect location and accomdations

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time in this beautiful, immaculate bungalow. Everything was modern, bright and well maintained. We particularly appreciated how well appointed and stocked the kitchen was with cooking implements and dishes. The location was fantastic and allowed us to walk to the Marie Selby Gardens, Burns Court, and the shops and restaurants on Main St. In addition, it's just a short drive to all of the activity on St. Armand's Circle. Many thanks to Susan and Jerry for letting us stay at the bungalow.

It was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have found a more charming, wonderfully clean or better located (easy walks downtown and even to St. Armand's Circle) house for our daughter and her family than the Devonshire Bungalow. They loved the bright spaces, the furnishings, the new and stylish bathrooms and the especially well-equipped kitchen. Everybody's favorite space was the sunny screen porch where we spent lots of time together and had a candlelight New Year's Eve dinner. My husband and I liked the bungalow so much that we were tempted to send the kids to our nearby condominium and stay there ourselves. Jerry and Susan were very gracious and accessible hosts who thought of everything when they remodeled this house. It is truly a "find." We'd recommend it in a second to other family members and friends

Like finding a Sand Dollar....

  • 5 of 5

Having combed though the sand and shells of Sarasota we stumbled on a sand dollar. You know what we mean when you find one.

This was like staying in our own home but here in Sarasota. Beautifully appointed and ideally situated.

Everything you could want to make your stay easy-peasy for beach chairs to internet to a fully equipped kitchen.

Great quite location, only a short walk from the marina, groceries and downtown.

Will miss the morning coffee and evening cocktails on the covered front porch.
