Nice Cabin, Minor Issues
Pretty nice cabin, we just had a few issues. The arcade did not work. The bathroom downstairs the door to the tub area would not fasten, the spray handle in the tub was broken, and some of the bedroom doors would not close. We were woken up by Sevierville Sheriff's Office at 2:30AM one night because the rowdy bunch next door started firing a gun...that was interesting, but a nice area other than those guests. Road is a little narrow but enjoyed our stay. The property owner arranged for the spray handle to be repaired quickly when I notified them.
Guest broke the spray handle on the downstairs tub and we had it repaired immediately. Arcade screen had to be special ordered and has since been replaced. We cannot control other property owner’s guests. Typically, in this high end area, there are never issues related to rowdy guests.
Very cozy, but dated and some repairs needed
The views were beautiful and the hot tub was great. The fire place was super cozy. The bedrooms were large, the beds and bedding were comfortable. However, the Ms PAC Man machine did not work, and the darts for the dartboard were all broken. The cleanliness of the home was subpar. One of the toilets upstairs had an odor and the floor had lots of hair behind the door. The same bathroom had a clogged sink that we fixed. The blinds in the other bedroom were very dusty and updating was vitally needed to both of those bathrooms. The kitchen was very small and we were hoping for a larger gathering area, but it honestly worked out okay because the home is pretty and we aren’t super picky. I just feel like these things should be noted in case modern amenities and superior cleanliness is important. The check in and out was easy and the owners are very kind, respond quickly and are extremely helpful. When I called about the sink they responded within 2 minutes! Overall - a great place to stay but if you’re looking for a luxurious cabin this might not be your first choice.
Thank you for a an overall positive review. We had the arcade checked, and it was not turned on properly. We will be removing the dart board as we cannot keep tips on the darts and it’s not worth trying to replace. In regard to the odor coming from a toilet, we recently stayed at Black Bear Lodge and did not notice any odor whatsoever. Occasionally, septic systems produce a gas that can leak up the system, but it is rare. Again thank you for the positive review.
Great Family Adventure
The property was quite clean and that is one of the most important things to our family. There was plenty of room for our 3 families. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking.
The property owners were great to deal with!
Wonderful Lodge with a scenic view!
My family of 8 had a wonderful stay in Black Bear Lodge. It was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We especially enjoyed the peaceful setting and scenic view. We also appreciated how the owner honors educators, veterans and church groups with a discount. My family would love stay at Black Bear Lodge again!
We stayed at this property July 2018 with 4 adults, 3 college aged boys, 4 teenagers and 1 child. It was a great fit for all of us. We tossed all the boys (6) in the lower level and it was perfect for them. Although there wasn't a shower, they had a bathroom and we managed. The pull out coach wasn't terribly comfortable in the basement, but with an air mattress on top, it was perfectly fine. The bedrooms in the home were very spacious. The living space was ample for all of us. The screened in decks were nice and the view from the decks and kitchen was stunning. The home was clean and the kitchen was stocked w nearly all needed items to cook full meals, which we did nightly. The property was in a nice quiet location, but close enough to stores, restaurants and attractions. Vicki was friendly and great to work with during our reservation booking. We also appreciated the 10% teacher/police officer discount.
We now have a shower in the lower bathroom! Thank you for the suggestion and come back to see us again.
Really enjoyed Big Black Bear cabin. Clean & comfortable! Loved, loved the screened in deck. The only thing we missed was having a shower on the bottom level but we made do. Was also handy to Pigeon Forge. We had neighbors but hardly could see or hear them because of the trees. Would rent again sometime!
We now have a shower in the lower bathroom! Thank you for the suggestion and come back to see us again for your next Smoky Mountain visit.
