Modern Architecture on the Toccoa River

Bedrooms 4
Space 3,000 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

River Dwelling is a four bedroom, four bath contemporary modern vacation home in the North Georgia Mountains that sits on a quiet stretch of the Toccoa River, across from the Chattahoochee National Forest and a short drive from Blue Ridge, Georgia. Sitting high on its concrete pedestal, River Dwelling guests are treated to the spectacular surroundings of old growth pines, oaks, and the hypnotic rhythms of the river.

Eschewing the standard 'vernacular' of the 'authentic' log cabin, the design team looked to create a sublime visual dichotomy between the verdant and the man made. With a moveable wall and large expanses of glass, the lines are blurred from that which is outside - wild, and natural, and the inside - clean, and machined.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello Heather,

I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing River Dwelling! I have a photo of the house as my screen saver and it continuously brings back so many happy memories of the delightful time my family spent there. We fell in love not only with your awesome house, the river and the mountains but also the people of the Blue Ridge area. We felt so welcomed and even special. Working all year for a much needed break off island to spend family time together we truly got lucky to find River Dwelling and I just wanted you to know that we absolutely loved it! Thank you both and sending all best wishes.

River Dwelling is now a tradition

  • 5 of 5

This was the 3rd of 4th year we have rented the River

Dwelling for our family's Labor Day gathering. Several of our family members stayed in River Dwelling so that we could visit with others who were staying at another location close by, also on the lovely river.

The kitchen is very well furnished for cooking. The living room is great for visiting or watching TV. There are lots of bathrooms which is great. It is very peaceful to watch the river and see people tubing together as families which is also what we did. The hot tub is very relaxing. The owners are quite helpful.

Great location! Lots of fun!

  • 5 of 5

We were there for girls get away long weekend, there are 6 adults and 1 kid in the group and we all enjoyed our stay. River Dwell is situated in a great location; river front view is such a nice plus. You can see the river the main floor and master bedroom, and the sound of river was quiet nice and soothing.

I was not expect a outdoor fire pit with seating area, and swing from tree over the river. The set up was great and we all enjoyed grill marshmallow over the fire at night.

This unit is also very convenient located. Local attractions are just few miles away with scenic drive. Mercier Orchid, Spa, horseback riding are activities we did, and supermarket are all within 6-7 miles away.

Family Time

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 7 adults and 1 toddler. There were plenty of toys for my young nephew and the surround system was amazing. Everyone in the family enjoyed the beautiful surroundings as well as the awesome house. We all loved the decor of the home an the location next to the River. Because of the well thought out floor plan we never felt crowded. It was so serene. The pictures do not do the house justice.

Great modern architecture get away

  • 4 of 5

We had a large group of 14 people during the weekend and it was a great experience. The house is big and we were all comfortable. The owners were very approachable and answer all questions in a timely manner. The only flaw with this property is that the kitchen is small and difficult for more than one person to cook. Other than that, it's a great houe and a great location. I will certainly be renting it again.

Girl's Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at River Dwelling this past Fall for a girl's weekend. It was nice to open the glass garage door and hear the river below. We also loved all the windows that allowed us to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Every night ended relaxing in the hot tub while having a bottle of wine out on the patio. We would definitely return!
