We fell in love with this property when looking for a second home in this area. We have a son and large extended families and enjoy cooking, entertaining, boating, tennis, nature, relaxing and of course lobster!
Alicia & David Blair purchased this house in 2007
We are very close to the scenic harbor and the local lobster restaurant that overlooks it. Pemaquid Harbor Road is a dead end road so it's quiet. We also love that the house is set back and we overlook a large lawn yet we're surrounded by woods on two sides. We also like the open flow of the indoor and outdoor spaces.
We have a fully outfitted kitchen with ample cooking utensils. Also, plenty of sports gear such as volleyball and badminton sets, croquet and 3 bicycles. Free WIFI and a flat screen TV in living room. Stackable washer/dryer on second floor. And a huge highlight is the semi-private tennis court a 2 minute walk up the road, ready for your use.
Thank you, thank you!! We had an amazing time here in Maine. We love the boat rides, going to the beach...
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blair Barn. The house was clean, had everything we needed to host our local relatives (lots of dishes, cooking utensils, gas stove, bbq, table cloths, etc) and the décor was lovely. Super quiet location, beds are good and there is lots to do within driving distance - antiques, beaches, historic sites, etc. The owners were good to deal with and they even mailed us some info about the county/sites before our arrival. We've rented lots of VRBO properties and this is definitely one of our favourites. Good value!
We enjoyed our 12 August days in Pemaquid Harbor very much. Having never been to Maine and not familiar with the vibe, we first weren't so sure, but over the time, we fell in love with both the house and the area. Alicia and David were very friendly and helpful, gracious in sharing their house and equipment, and gave a lot of good advice.
The house is beautiful, surrounded by nature aand very well equipped: appliances, kitchenware, games, beach gear, tennis and bikes. Some of these items have probably seen better days but all did their purpose. There is no A/C, but on the hot nights, the fans were sufficient.
The Pemaquid peninsula has all we wanted in close driving distance: a colonial historic site, a very nice white beach, pretty little shopping town (Damariscotta) and most of all the romantic little light house on the beautiful rock ledges where we rounded up many of our days for sunsets. We did daytrips to Boothbay and Camden, but after a while in Pemaquid, we saw no need in hauling all the way to Acadia National Park.
Very quaint house nestled among the trees. House was clean and well stocked with many amenities. Although we enjoyed our stay , there were a few things that could have been improved upon. First of all, there is no air conditioning, so if you are there on some hot, humid nights, window fans do not help. The bathroom doors had hook and eye locks which came loose if the door was pushed open. There is only one TV in the living room, so if you enjoy watching TV late at night, it won't be in your bedroom. Could not find a 5 minute walk to the beach and there were no directions to get there. Had to take our trash to the landfill which we had to call to find out where it was. Don't mean to trash this location, just think that with a little effort, this would be a comfortable , enjoyable place to stay.
First visit to this area and your home met all our needs. Comfortable, clean and cozy. Enough space for six adults. Nice to have the bottle of wine to welcome us too. Thank you. This home is one we will keep on our list for return visit to Maine.
The house was well kept, nicely furnished and so comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying coffee and breakfast or for cocktails and/or dinner. The large lawn allowed for badminton, volleyball and croquet. The location was fantastic. We took walks everyday and had amazing views of the bay. Lobster co-op is a half mile away and on a hill overlooking the water (BYOB). It's a close drive to the local beach, local golf course, local towns and great restaurants (Shaw's, Coveside, The Contented Sole, King Eyder's Pub). I can't wait to go back this summer!!
If you're bound for mid-coast Maine and don't have to be on the water, this property offers a great central location great yard and tennis court for the kids (of any age) to play on, and biking to beach, bay, nature areas. Cozy/comfy house had everything we needed for our 2 adult, 2 children family. Endless activities included beach time, kayaking, festival at the Fort, lobster boat races, golf 10 minutes away, biking, tennis, swimming, hiking and a museum/window shopping day in Rockland. There are plenty of restaurants if you want to take a break from the well-stocked kitchen. We'd recommend the property to anyone!
PRIVATE TENNIS COURT with BASKETBALL HOOP!!! Basketballs and/or Racquets and Tennis Balls are AVAILABLE. We also have Croquet, Volleyball and Badminton sets. There are 3 BICYCLES AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE!! We also have a nice book and DVD library selection as well as plenty of family board games.
