Our home, the Milolii Beach House, is very close to the ocean and the Milolii Village Beach. It offers views of the ocean and of the rustic Hawaiian hillside. The swimming hole (5 - 10 Minute Walk) offers some of the best swimming and snorkeling on the Big Island. The Milolii House is close to the Milolii Ancient Fishing Village and close to Honomalino which is a very secluded and private beach. At night, you'll see stars and constellations that you have never seen before. The outdoor lanai has a dining table and chairs for dining outdoors, offers comfortable chaise lounges for relaxing or taking in an afternoon nap, and comfortable over-sized chairs to enjoy the cool evenings outdoors. The lanai also offers two large umbrellas that can be placed to protect you from the afternoon sun. The Milolii Beach House is completely new and updated inside and out. Our home offers brand new appliances, furnishings and beds. It has a large kitchen with a gas range and a coffee bar to enjoy your morning coffee. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bedrooms offer "Black-Out Blinds" so you can keep the light out on those mornings when you want to sleep in! The Milolii Beach House is good for families, couples, solo adventurers, or business travelers that want to escape the traditional hotels. It is remote enough to enjoy a secluded getaway when you want to enjoy uninterrupted family time or just escape the everyday rat race. It really is one of the best locations on the Big Island because of its proximity to so many of the outdoor locations and adventures. The Milolii Beach House is an hour and 10 minutes south of the Kona airport. It is 30 minutes from the town of Captain Cook, swimming with sea turtles at Hookena Beach, and the City of Refuge at Puuhonua Honaunau National Park. Additionally, you are 30 minutes from the town of Ocean View and 40 minutes from Naalehu where you can enjoy lunch or a traditional Hawaiian Malasada from the world famous Punaluu Bake Shop. You are also a quick hour drive along the Hawaiian Coast to South Point, the Black Sand Beach, and Volcano National Park. If you want to venture into the Big Island's largest city, Hilo, you are about an hour and forty five minutes away on a drive that encompasses the Beautiful Hawaiian Coastline and Countryside.

About Anthony Panek
My wife and I currently live in Huntington Beach, CA. We have lived here since we've been married (30 Years), and this is the place where we raised our children. We love animals and currently have 4 dogs that we've rescued throughout the years. We love it here in Huntington Beach, but we also love the Big Island. We started going there with my sister, and we have completely fallen in love with the Island! This is what brought us to buying a 2nd home in Milolii which is located about an hour and 15 minutes south of the Kona Airport. We love the outdoors, and we love to explore all of the places in an around the Big Island. We try to spend as much time on the island as we can, and we hope to retire there in the future.
Anthony Panek purchased this House in 2016
Why Anthony Panek chose Captain Cook
We saw this property for the first time in 2016, and we basically rescued it! The house was vacant, and it needed a ton of work. The house has been completely remodeled inside and out, and we have furnished it with all "New" appliances, furnishings and beds. We also installed "Black-Out" blinds in the bedrooms so you escape the morning sun and sleep in when you really want to. Additionally, the house has a new entertainment system featuring a large screen, Smart TV, Blu-ray Disc Player, gaming system, a ton of movies, and Wireless Internet Connectivity. The property also has a new washer and dryer on the lanai that is available to our guests. This definitely comes in handy when you need to do a quick load of laundry prior to your next adventure! Because we purchased the house as our 2nd home, a lot of time and love has gone into the renovation process! Because this is our home, we haven't cut any corners throughout the renovation. It's quiet, comfortable and relaxing, and it's definitely a place you'll want to stay when you want to get away from the day to day grind!
What makes this House unique
The Milolii beach house has all of the creature comforts of home including a full size refrigerator and freezer, gas range, washer and dryer, large screen Smart TV with a Blu-Ray Disc player, and Wireless Internet Connectivity. The beds are brand new and super comfortable. You definitely won't have any problems going to sleep here! The house is located in the perfect part of the island and is 30 minutes to some of the best beaches and locations. You're an hour away from South Point, The Black Sand Beach and Hawaii Volcano's National Park. If you need to go to the city, you're an hour from Kona and an hour and 45 minutes from Hilo.

Best Value Stay on the Island
Our family with kids (aged 5-17) enjoyed staying here the end of April/ early May. It was very true to the pictures, and better in person even. Very quiet & comfortable home with a good floor plan and everything you need provided (even snorkel gear, cooler, boogie boards, clothes washer/dryer that we used a lot, etc). After our first night my wife said she "loved the energy" of the house. I spent hours deciding on the best place to stay for our epic Hawaii trip and we were very happy here.
Comparable accommodations closer to Kona are a lot more money (if you can find anything comparable at all) and we preferred to spend our extra cash on fun things to do since most of the time we were gone from morning until well after dark.
We enjoyed several places to eat out in Capain Cook including Kaaloa's Super J's and Patz' Pizza that we strongly recommend. There is a chocolate place there that makes tasty "Donkey Balls". Fairly close to must visit Puuohonua O Honaunau NP / 2 Step and Kealakakua Bay. I will only talk about this on this review since I promised a local I wouldn't "let the cat out of the bag" by telling people about it, but we went to little beach on the south end of Kealakakua Bay called Ke ei Beach. Its down a super bumpy road and you park just before the turnaround in from of the houses. It is a beautiful beach that has an amazing reef the second you hit the water. Sand is great. It is very rocky. The surf was really high on the day we went, but if the water is calm, you can launch a kayak there and cruise the bay.
Speaking of beaches, Daniel the property manager told us about a black sand beach in Milolii, just a couple minutes from the house, that is at the end of a 15 min jungle hike. It was a really cool adventure for our family and at the end was a beautiful beach to ourselves with calm/clear water that " felt like a nice pool" according to my 17 year old.
Being towards to the bottom of the west side of the island was nice in that you were closer than most to South Point for cliff jumping, and also good spot to go to the Hilo side for a day (it was a busy day but we did Punaluu Black Sand Beach first, then Hilo Farmers Market and surrounding shops, Rainbow Falls, Akaka Falls, and Jagger Museum Overlook at Volcano National Park after dark.)
We would see some green geckos around the outside of the house to the delight of everyone. Anthony was great to work with and we really enjoyed our stay.
Thanks for the wonderful review! We’ve worked really hard to provide a place that’s such a great value to our guests while, at the same time, offers all of the comforts of home! We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay, and we hope you find the time to visit again soon!

Great getaway and perfect base for exploring
Loved the beach house.
Wonderful hosts - appreciated the welcome on arrival and the recommendations for things to do.
Beautiful snorkeling and swimming beach nearby. Loved the Fish and Chips from Keoki's Roadside Cafe. Swimming with Manta Rays at night was a highlight of the trip - we did it with Ocean Adventures out of Kona. Allow about 90 minutes to get up to Kona - it's a windy road.
Looking forward to returning!
Beautiful house, great views of the ocean and a mountain. Good internet, we watched a lot of Netflix. Night time on the lini was my favorite, with a breeze coming off the ocean or down from the mountain. My boys loved the swimming spot. They swam and snorkeled every day. I hope to stay here the next time we go to Hawaii. The trip down to the house was quite the experience. It was a 10 min drive down a switchback, form 3000 ft to sea level. Worth the trip.
Best vacation yet!
You will not go wrong here. Tony was super accommodating, the home was immaculate and new, and very convenient to our new favorite beach! I have already recommended to several people!!
Relaxing family vacation!
Our family of five had a great time at the Milolii Beach house! Anthony was great to check-in and keep us up to date on the volcanic activity and send links to information from the experts. He then called within a couple hours of landing in Kona to make sure we had clear directions and had the property manager stop by our first evening to give us great ideas for our visit to the island. Daniel was great! Very funny! We ate at every place he recommended and was not disappointed. We didn't have any needs arise during our stay but I have no doubt if we had that they would have been handled quickly.
We found the location peaceful and safe and enjoyed morning jogs around the neighborhood and the nearby fishing hole. The kids also did some snorkeling there and saw so many beautiful fish! We originally booked this location because there was so much we wanted to do in Volcano National Park. Because the park was closed due to volcanic activity we did spend a bit more time driving to/from other activities but we have found on the big island you do quite a bit of driving no matter where you stay - there's just so much to see/do!
The house is well equipped with everything we needed! The kids were especially happy with the boogie boards and beach chairs! We travel light so it was nice to have access to a washer/dryer and other general cleaning supplies to keep up after ourselves since we were there for two weeks. We enjoyed the movies, games and books while winding down in the evenings. We brought drinking water in with our groceries so we didn't use much at the property but there was ample provided and Daniel was available with more if needed! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
This place made all my stress melt away!!! I will be back
The house was much nicer than I expected for its super reasonable price. The master bed was extremely comfortable with an amazing ocean view to wake up too. The Lana’i was amazing but bring bug spray. The neighborhood was the most peaceful calming place I’ve ever been. Walks at dusk we’re amazing. The beach right down the road was called Honomalino Bay I think and it is a true gem. Immediately as I got in the water I was swimming with Reef Sharks which are harmless and it was an experience I’ll never forget. The coral is breathtaking and that breeding pair of Reef Shark will be there for years to come. I can’t wait to swim with them again. Sharks, octopus, coral, empty black sand beach with plenty of coconut trees to fall asleep under. “Paradise”...... Great place to snorkel. Very secluded place and the nearest store is 30 minutes so stock up at Costco in Kona. I’ll never forget this place and have considered buying myself a vacation home in this neighborhood now because it really made me forget about all my problems. The wife and I will be back without fail. Stop looking and rent this place. 2 full bedrooms and a really cool loft bedroom with 2 twin beds. The couch can sleep 2 more kids so technically 2 families can be very comfortable here. Thank you Tony for sharing. Tony the owner even sent over a friend to help us find the best local sights and welcome us to the neighborhood.
