About the Property
Recently Renovated 2 Bedroom Lakeside Cottage in the Heart of the Acadia Region
The entire lake side of the cottage has a deck. A screened porch covers nearly 3/4ths of the deck. We are up a short incline and only about 30 feet from the lake so the view from the screened porch is beautiful. This room, that was added during the renovation, completely changed the way we use the cottage. Since the lake is generally very quiet, the screened porch is a perfect area to relax and read a good book or just do nothing at all.
The cottage includes an open kitchen, dining and living room area, 2 bedrooms(1 with bunk beds), a large sleeping loft with 2 windows overlooking the lake and a bathroom with a shower. Heating is provided with a new, glass front gas stove.
Lakeside, there is a new Shore Master dock system, including a boat lift. The water depth off the dock is plenty deep enough for swimming & fishing. A small boathouse near the dock is used for storage. Next to the boathouse is a 30-40 feet beach with shallow water that is a great place for kids to play.

Our lakeside cottage is centrally located among Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Blue Hill, Stonington, Castine, and Belfast. Also, we are only 49 miles from picturesque Camden. It is 2 miles to the entrance of the Great Pond Conservation Trust. This area includes 16 miles of gravel trails in the valley between Great Pond, Flying Moose and Hothole Mountains opened to hikers and bicyclists year round. Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory are located in Prospect, 7 miles south on US 1.

Why the Owner Chose Orland, ME, USA:
This property has been in our family since 1982. Toddy Pond is one of the largest, most scenic lakes in the Acadia region. It has easy access, less than a mile off US 1, but once you drive down our camp road, the noise and stress of everyday life begins to melt away. My mother-in-law loves this cottage; she frequently refers to it as 'my happy place'.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
This is the perfect location to choose what you want to do during a 'Downeast' vacation. Do you want to spend quiet time kayaking, swimming, fishing, or reading a good book on a screened deck overlooking a Maine lake? Do you want to hike the trails or bike the carriage trails at Acadia National Park? Do you want to explore the towns of Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, or Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island? Do you want to visit Stonington and take the daily ferry ride to Isle au Haut (also a part of Acadia National Park)? Do you want to explore Fort Knox in Prospect and go to the top of the Penobscot Narrows Observation Tower? Do you want to explore the unique coastal towns of Penobscot Bay and perhaps take a ferry ride to Isleboro? All this, and more, are easy day long activities from our cottage.
