Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 8

A 3-bedroom cabin with an awe-inspiring view of the Great Smoky Mountains, Resting Bears is tailor-made for a rejuvenating, restorative getaway. Not only are the surroundings stunning and serene, but the cabin itself is a haven of calm and comfort. Every element of the home, from the outdoor hot tub to the deck’s fireplace to the great room’s wall of windows, encourages relaxation.

Located in Gatlinburg’s private Cobbly Nob neighborhood—itself set within a 1,000-acre resort—Resting Bears has a back deck that stretches the width of the house and looks out over woodlands toward the Smoky Mountains. Enjoy your morning coffee while kicking back on one of the rocking chairs or sprawled out on a chaise; there’s no better way to start the day. At one end of the deck, a screened enclosure houses a hot tub, where you can luxuriate among the steamy bubbles without the intrusion of insects. The other end of the deck features both a fireplace (so that you can stargaze on chilly autumn evenings) and a ceiling fan (so that you can linger over an alfresco lunch even during the heat of the summer).

You don’t have to be on the deck to revel in the beauty surrounding Resting Bears. The great room’s wall of picture windows floods the space with sunlight and lets you gaze out at the mountains even as you stretch out on one of the leather sofas to watch TV, gather at the card table to play rummy, or sit back on the glider with your tablet to surf the web (Resting Bears has free WiFi). The wood-planked walls, the sloped and beamed ceiling, and the stone-surround fireplace are ideal complements to the majestic beauty on the other side of the windows.

In addition to the card table, which seats 4, the great room has a dining table that can accommodate 6 people. What with the elegant furnishings and the stunning mountain view, you might opt to eat many, if not most, of your meals in. You don’t have to rely on takeout, though; Resting Bears’ kitchen is equipped with appliances, cookware, and tableware galore. There’s even a dishwasher because nobody wants to scrub plates while on vacation.

Resting Bears’ 3 bedrooms can sleep up to 8 people, and there’s a full bathroom for each bedroom, which will make everyone’s morning routine stress-free. The spacious master bedroom includes a king-size bed, a flat-screen TV, and a bathroom with a jetted tub. You’ll really appreciate its massaging jets when you return from a day of hiking, skiing, or exploring every inch of Dollywood.

The 2nd bedroom features a queen-size bed, another flat-panel TV, and perhaps best of all, doors that open directly onto the deck. You can slip out at night for a romantic drink in the moonlight or head out first thing in the morning to watch the sunrise without waking the others.

The 3rd bedroom sleeps up to 4 people in 2 sets of twin-size bunk beds. The kids will love this room: There’s plenty of space for them to spread out with their games and toys, and as with the other bedrooms, there’s a flat-screen TV.

When you stay at Resting Bears between Memorial Day and Labor Day, you’ll have free access to Cobbly Nob’s 2 pool areas. What’s more, at the foot of the resort is the award-winning Bent Creek Golf Course, designed by legendary golfer Gary Player. Just slightly farther afield are the restaurants, shops, and amusements of downtown Gatlinburg; the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; and the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop, an 8-mile trail of more than 100 galleries, studios, and shops.

No matter how you spend your days, you’ll relish returning to the pleasures of Resting Bears. Experience its calm and beauty for yourself: Make your reservation today!

Great week in the Smoky’s!

  • 5 of 5

Very nice home. Beautiful views!! A little farther from town than we usually stay but tried out new hikes and places in the park since we were closer to them ( Cosby & Big Creek areas/hikes). Also fun to see more wildlife near by: mama bear & two cubs, beaver, geese, turkeys, etc. Overall accommodations & amenities were fantastic! Would book again!

The view and hot tub are amazing. Check out all functions the first day that you get to the cabin.

  • 2 of 5

The view was absolutely wonderful both day and night. The hot tub was very functional and easy to work. You may be aware that there is some sort of water drip in the refrigerator - we found a puddle of water on the first shelf each morning.

I am listing the problems noted with the cabin that should have been. Functional according to your advertising:

1. Remotes for TV Infinity did not work in 2 room;

2. There were not enough twin sheets -- we had a set of two and there were four twin beds

3. We expected to have a bath towel for all 8 occupants but we could only find 6 bath towels.

4. The outdoor fireplace would not light.

5.

Owner's Response: We sincerely apologize you encountered the issues you have listed and we appreciate you letting us know about them now. It would have been our pleasure to have addressed these during your stay by our 24/7 on call maintenance department. With that said, we will have the refrigerator and tv remotes repaired, and let housekeeping know about the towels and sheets. Again, thank you for sharing. We hope you will choose to stay with us again on your next trip to the Smokies, giving us the opportunity to exceed all expectations.

Beautiful Home!

  • 5 of 5

Quiet residence with gorgeous views.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had five (5) people and there was more than enough space.

The pool was little bit of a hike (actually drove) but we spent most of our time either on the deck or in the mountains.

The unit had just about everything that we needed. An additional lounge on the deck would be nice.

Otherwise, a great time was had by all.
