As other guests have commented , this home truly needs an upgrade on all levels. It is dated and truly out of synch with the neighborhood of multi million dollar homes. Having said that , as an old time Coloradan , a little retro ski chalet ambience is sometimes welcome in this era of extravagance and overbuilding , but sadly the home has not been maintained or loved as it should be, the home needs to be thoroughly renovated inside and out, needs new furnishings and proper landscaping, including a paved driveway, and it would be fantastic. The exterior is, honestly, an eyesore in this high end neighborhood.
The biggest drawback was the failure to disclose, until after we made the nonrefundable reservation, that the "caretaker" lives on site in the basement lock off unit. The problem is that his presence is hard to disguise as his apartment is right in front of the property and is a major drawback due to the configuration of his space .He takes the better and more level parking spot on the steep dirt driveway and his unit has huge windows so you have to view his living quarters when you are out front. He was nice enough , that is not the problem, but be prepared to have a roommate situation when you rent this place. It is decidedly a " low rent " arrangement for Vail - feel like you are in employee housing , sorry , but it is pretty sketch, let's face it.
I'm sorry that you're three night stay at our Vail house was not what you expected. Our home is one of the two original houses left on this part of the golf course. It is a well loved and well-maintained family house that has been updated over the years. The kitchen and all three bathrooms have been upgraded. We have high speed internet and all amenities to make our guest comfortable during their stay. Our year round tenant/caretaker lives in a completely separate downstairs apartment that is in no way a roommate situation. The only thing shared is the washer and dryer in the garage.
Most of our guests park on the left side of the driveway next to the walkway leading to the door of the main house, and not on the right side in front of caretakers apartment.
There are some things about the house that are a little dated, but we think that's part of it's charm. It's clean and comfortable, half a block from the free bus shuttle to the ski lift, walking distance to town, on the golf course and truly holds decades of joy and laughter from the original family that built it. It sounds like you would be happier in a fancy new platinum rated place, and, for three times the amount you'll be able to find many of them.
Most of our guests love our home and many come back to enjoy it year after year.

The owner and onsite person were very responsive. The house is an awesome location and accommodating for our dog. Very clean, comfortable and consistent with the property description. I would stay again.

Dishes, glasses and some pots weren’t clean so we hand washed them. Rooms were clean. Some window screens & blinds missing. Supplies provided were very good (towels, shampoo, etc). Curb appeal was poor because yard furniture was in disarray & there is no lawn, just a little natural grass & a gravel driveway. Had to be very careful when walking on the sloped gravel driveway. Also lots of steps to walk up with luggage. Can’t tell this from the VRBO pics. This was surprising considering the neighboring properties. Home was rustic but acceptable. Some upgrades to cabinets, countertops, decks and front yard would greatly enhance the property.
