I didn't receive the code from the property manager and after trying to contact had to go through VRBO. We finally received the code (an hour after check in, get my toddler up to the door, and the code did not work and had to contact the property manager again. Having to deal with this after a long flight is unacceptable. This is my first stay using vrbo or others when the address and code were not provided automatically in advance.
This unit is part of a converted house with a very steep driveway, and tight limited parking (one spot for this unit that advertises it can fit six adults). I wasn't told about the one spot until we were checking in. Not an issue for us, but could be a major inconvenience for a group with multiple cars, and should be noted in the listing.
A person staying in the lower level with 2wd struggled to get up the drive, and I had to assist her getting out. Keep in mind this is essentially an apartment vs a house due to the conversion. We could hear a lot of noise from at least one other unit.
The washing machine was covered in mold, making me realize all the towels are being washed in a moldy machine. Gross. (Took pics but looks like I can't post them here). My nine year old was looking forward to viewing the lake from the pictured telescope, which was missing. The pictures also appear to show a fire pit on the deck that was also not there. The kitchen was sparcely supplied (no spices, ziploc or many other helpful items the majority of my vrbo stays have included).
The lower bed was very stiff and uncomfortable. There is one tiny shower, and the showerhead can't angle to a comforable position for a kid, so we struggled getting our two kids clean. The bathroom sink hot and cold are backwards, which resulted in my child scalding her hands.
The upper bedroom (basically a small add on built over the covered up stairway when this place was converted to a multi unit building) has open interior windows with blackout curtains but no hvac vents or returns, so it gets hot, and the people staying there will hear any noises. The upstairs bed appeared to be a cheap bed in a box mattress.
My daughter was also nervous to use the advertised beach access as there was an unsupervised rottweiler in the back yard.
We love having more space on vacation and vrbo spaces are much better than hotels for us. If I could redo this trip, I would much rather stay at a local hotel than this place.
Bottom line, this was my worst vrbo experience.
