Not for long term stay in my opinion
Casa Esparta is keep spotlessly clean The house keepers do an incredible job. We wish we had been aware of the factory that attaches the home and the train that passes a few doors away. The toaster was broken when we arrived and the pots were questionable. We were provided with a new toaster and pot. The owner of this home needs to pay more attention to the kitchen implements and household. The accommodation reads for 6 people but there are only 2 double beds and 2 hammocks. We were fine as only 2 of us. The mattress upstairs has a plastic cover -very hot to sleep on. Another cover was requested but not provided so I used beach towels over the plastic and under the sheet. For a few days in December we had toxic smelling paint fumes coming in around the water pipes in the kitchen sink from the factory next door. Fortunately that stopped after Christmas and we just had one more incident of the same. It should be noted that there is no hot water to any of the sinks-kitchen included. Showers have the hot water. The upstairs is bright and cheery with lovely patio. The plunge pool advertised is small and shallow.. This was disappointing and we never did use it. The kitchen and main floor are very dark and require lights to be on at all times. No windows other than the sliding door which goes to a garden area with high concrete walls. There are no comfortable chairs on this main level of the house. There is a concrete bench with cushions and an office chair that is in need of repair. The home is close to the magnificent Montejo Avenue-a beautiful street to wander. Merida has much to offer. Such a beautiful , modern , colonial city. Casa Esparta is probably fine for short term when one is out sightseeing and dining, I will be returning to Merida but not to this home . I found it expensive for the quality of the home.
Great Location, beautiful house.
This home is a great deal- nicely equipped, very clean, great location. I’m not exactly how one might describe the neighborhood, it seemed to be mixed industrial/residential, very close to central Merida and Paseo de Montejo. The only drawbacks to the home are beds (extremely firm), and occasional train horn noise from the nearby tracks. The trains weren’t a constant, but we were definitely aware of them as the tracks are just a block or two away. I feel bad not giving this property a perfect 5/5 stars, it’s a wonderful home in a great location at a fair price...it’s just the beds were SO firm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property, even if we came home with stiff backs.
The house was a good value. Spacious with everything you need. The drawback was the location.
The house was spacious. The balcony was a very nice additional area to relax outside. The location was a bit far from the center square but still walkable (15 minute walk). The kitchen was well stocked with essentials. Overall a good value.
