COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to impact travel in different areas around the globe. Here’s key information on what to consider before you travel.

Important: Check these things before you travel
  1. Check for COVID-19 travel restrictions. COVID-19 testing and quarantine requirements are changing rapidly. Use the Sherpa + Vrbo tool to get information on specific travel restrictions by country. Note: Make sure to check your departure city and destination.
  2. Review the property’s cancellation policies. They may apply even if your reservation is affected by COVID-19.
  3. Consider purchasing travel insurance. Travel insurance may provide coverage for illness due to COVID-19, should you be diagnosed and prevented from travel at the time of your departure. Visit the Generali Travel Protection page for more information.

How to cancel or modify your trip

Hosts determine the cancellation and refund policies for most properties in our marketplace. If you want to make changes outside the cancellation policy window, contact the host via your traveler account.

How to change the dates of your trip

You can request to modify your trip dates through your Vrbo account or use our secure messaging system to communicate directly with the host.

How to cancel your trip

Some reservations may be eligible for self-service cancellation via your Vrbo account in My Trips. If you don’t see the button to cancel, contact the host.

Trip protection

If you purchased travel insurance with us, you can request a travel insurance voucher for future dates. You might also have limited trip protection if you booked using certain credit cards. Contact your bank or credit card issuer to see what coverage might be available to you.

Our Book with Confidence guarantee

The Book with Confidence program is designed to protect you from fraudulent listings and property misrepresentation. It doesn't cover cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, such as COVID-19.
