Why Cara & Dan chose Winston-Salem
Looking for a live-like-a-local experience? A comfy & unique place to stay? We invite you to experience an authentic Southern cottage complete with a Magnolia tree by the patio and a cheeky nod to 007. Located in the upscale Buena Vista/Reynolda Historic District. Spanish for “beautiful view" here we give it a Southern twist and pronounce it—Byoo-Na Vista. This is the most beautiful neighborhood in our city; a highly desirable and safe part of town. In case you haven't noticed, Cara's favorite Bond is Roger Moore. Since the cottage is hidden in the woods in the middle of town, we thought it’d be just the kind of pad 007 would hang-out in if he had spy biz in Winston-Salem, ha! With a playful nod to 007, it's an inviting, fun place to stay. The neighborhood was designed as a tree-lined haven in the middle of a bustling city & the first homes were built in 1915. Fun Fact: The neighborhood became a showplace for some of the most popular American architects of the 20th century—most notably, Charles Barton Keen, a favorite of wealthy tobacco & textile families. He designed our treasured Reynolda House for Katharine & R.J. Reynolds, which is a 5-minute drive from the cottage.
What makes this Cottage unique
We love this neighborhood. J.B.'s cottage makes an ideal base for exploring our city. It's safe and easy to buzz on over to shops, restaurants and sights. You'll get a real feel for what it's like to live here and have fun discovering our local neighborhood spots. Before, we lived downtown but prefer this location because it’s the best of both worlds. Tucked away and yet close to great restaurants, shops & sights. One of our favorite perks is being able to walk to funky Airstream for coffee and the gourmet bakery and wine bar/shop. We're close to some cool vintage furniture & home goods shops. Do some shopping and then pop in the homemade gelato shop for an afternoon pick-me-up. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Publix & Harris Teeter grocery stores are an easy 5-minute drive away. On Saturdays from April to November, you can check out the organic farmer's market (ask Cara for details).
