About Sandra and Mark Alix-Brown
First of all, a warm hello from Sandra and Mark. Thank you for your interest in this apartment. We are based in London but our hearts are in Mauritius, and especially the seaside village of Pereybere where the apartment is based. We think it's one of the most attractive spots on the island and go there whenever we can! We are delighted to share our apartment and our love of Mauritius with our guests so please do not hesitate to contact us through the website for any additional information. On arrival, our lovely housekeeper, Marceline, will be delighted to welcome you, give you the keys and answer any questions you may have. She will be cleaning the apartment every day (except weekends and bank holidays). To book this apartment, please kindly follow the instructions on the website.
Why Sandra and Mark Alix-Brown chose Pereybere
The apartment is in a small residential complex in the village of Pereybere. It is ideally located, being within a 3 to 5 minute walk from two of the most beautiful beaches on the island with fine white sand and limpid turquoise water. One of them has excellent water sports on offer. The apartment is in one of the few residences to be so close to these two stunning beaches while also benefitting from a relatively large swimming pool on site. Although this well equipped apartment is self-catering, it is cleaned 5 days a week (included in the price) and for a small fee our lovely French and English speaking housekeeper Marceline can offer home cooked meals to your taste, washing and ironing services. All the rooms are air-conditioned including the living/dining room (not just the bedrooms). The residence has a lodge at the entrance where the concierge and his wife the caretaker live. The bus stop is within a minute walk from the apartment, which makes it easy to visit the island for a very inexpensive fare - it can be a little bumpy at times!. For more comfort, the taxi stand is within a 5 minute walk from the apartment. From Pereybere, there is a wide variety of day excursions to any part of the island, ranging from cultural visits to museums, colonial houses and exotic botanical gardens, to outdoor activities such as trekking/quad-biking/4x4 in forested hills and wild-life safari parks, to water activities such as the under-sea walk, submarine ride, kite-surfing and parasailing.
What makes this Apartment unique
We fell in love with the village of Pereybere on the sheltered north coast of Mauritius. It has a local, laid back feel to it and is only a 5 minute bus/taxi ride away to the larger resort town of Grand Baie. Pereybere has a relaxed village atmosphere while offering a great choice of amenities a short walk away from the apartment, including over 10 restaurants serving excellent and varied local and European food, tour operators, scuba diving and water sports centres, a well stocked supermarket, cash points, a pharmacy and doctor, car hire centres, internet cafes, an Ayurvedic spa centre and beach item shops. The two beaches within a 3 to 5 minute walk from the apartment are fantastic: - Pereybere's main beach is a little bay, its tranquil waters like a giant swimming pool. There are two restaurants right on the beach as well as several food stalls from which you can enjoy local specialities throughout the day for a small price. The rear of the beach is lined with Filao trees offering good shade while the front is great for topping up your tan. Water sports activities are on offer: glass bottom boat tours, pedalos, kayaks, water skiing and tubing. It's also the departure point for several excursions such as the swimming with dolphins and day trips to nearby islands. West facing, the sunsets on this beach are wonderful. - The 'Pointe d'Azur' beach is barely frequented and blessed with beautiful views of the small off-shore islands. From this beach, there is a superb walk along the coast for about 4km up to Cap Malheureux with its well known red-roofed chapel and where the local fishermen bring in their daily catch. Both beaches are among the safest to swim and snorkel in regardless of the season, being on the sheltered side of the north coast and protected behind a coral reef.
