Hi! My name is Cindy Winkeljohn (my friends call me Cindy Lou) and I (along with my husband) own Island Royale units 1001 and P201. I really enjoy managing our condos and I truly wish for all who spend their vacation there to have a great time and a good experience! I live in a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, but grew up on a hog/dairy farm in western Ohio with my 4 brothers and sisters, a horde of dogs, cats, chickens, pony, cows and pigs. I'm a Physical Therapist but my true love is spending time at the beach and managing these properties. I have twin boys and a daughter who are now out of college and doing their own thing, but every summer while they were growing up, we vacationed at the beaches along the Atlantic coast and the Gulf of Mexico. In 1996 we started vacationing in Gulf Shores and since our first visit, we never went anywhere else. When the real estate market corrected in 2008 and the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill happened in 2010, it created the perfect opportunity for us to purchase in Gulf Shores and Island Royale. We purchased unit 1001 in 2012 and added P201 in 2016. We absolutely love the Island Royale property and love sharing it and all it has to offer with our guests.

Why Cindy Winkeljohn chose Gulf Shores
When I was growing up and newly married, I lived in Ohio and Northern Virginia. We always went to the beach for vacation, so I’ve vacationed at Cape Cod, Long Beach Island, Virginia Beach, Emerald Isle, Oak Island, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island, Amelia Island, Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Cape San Blas. In 1996 we moved to Collierville, TN, and the closest beach was Gulf Shores, Alabama. I had never heard of the beach in L.A. (Lower Alabama), but was blown away by what I found. The beach was sugar white and the people very relaxed and laid back. Gulf Shores has managed to stay a well kept secret that allows us to stay at a perfect beach that is not nearly as commercialized as any of the other beaches we visited. After we moved to Texas, Gulf Shores was still the best beach we had visited, so rather than go to the Texas beaches, we kept making the trip to Gulf Shores, and eventually purchased our first Island Royale property there in 2012.
What makes this Apartment unique
The best feature of this property is the corner view! The wide open east end balcony offers a panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico to the south and to the east. Most of your time at this property will be spent on the balcony. Another unique feature is the inclusion of a full bath in each of the three bedrooms. This really presents itself as three individual suites where you can get away from your group for some down time if desired. Each bedroom has a HDTV along with either a DVD or Blu ray player. Finally, unlike many of the properties in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, I manage the properties I own...so this is truly a vacation rental by owner, and you will always work directly with me. The majority of properties are managed by BIG real estate companies that are hard to contact and add big fees to their total rental price. I hope you will love Gulf Shores as much as I do, and I look forward to working with you to provide a wonderful vacation experience.
