We searched for 3 years to find the perfect loacation . The property was owned at one time by Mose Cone--the inventor of Blue Jeans --and one of the richest people in the US at the beginning of the 20th century. We bought the land from decendants of owners/executives of Coca Cola. We built the house ouselves for our part time use--designed by us including many custom architectual design features.
Why Maria chose
No other house enjoys all of the amenities of Chetola Resort, borders on 6000 acres of State and Nationa Parks (many miles of hiking trails to explore)and is easy walking distance to downton Blowing Rock.. There is no other better location. Also MAINTENANCE SERVICE (on site) is available 7 days a week to correct any problems.
What makes this House unique
Our house is adjacent to 6000 acres of the Moses Cone National Park and the Julian Price State Park. The Natioanl Park Service maintains 32 milee of 10 foot wide hiking trails--originallly built by Moses Cones (the man who invented blue jeans)--a few feet from our driveway. Also beautiful Bass Lake is just about 100 yards away. Everyone enjoys the easy 1 mile walk around the lake or the 45 minute hike to the Moses Cone Manor House--now the showplace for the world renowned crafts of the Southern Highlands Craft Guild. In addition, enjoy the numerous Chetola Resort amenities such as heated indoor pool, fishing (stocked with trout), full spa, sauna, steam room, boating, fly fishing lessons, kids camps, sporting clay shooting, biking. Also enjoy the many views of the Blue Ridge Parkway nearby. Then enjoy the shopping (including high end outlet shopping nearby) and the many unique restaurants that have made Blowing Rock famous. Blowing Rock also has a great museum and has high quality live theater most of the year. Also visit The Blowing Rock to discover what put Blowing Rock on the map as a destination reaord in the early 1900's. Nearby there are great golf courses, 3 large ski resorts, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Zip Line, Tweetsee Railroad and Amusement Park (ride the original steam train made famous in children's books), Rafting and canoeing, "Horn in the West" outdoor drama, Gem mining and much more. There is something for everyone in your group -- no matter what their preference may be. If you like to hike--check out https://www.hikingproject.com/directory/8017839/moses-cone-park for detailed information on trails located from a few feet to a few miles from our house.
