About Michelle Melgares
My name is Michelle and I own CrashPad - a vacation rental management company serving Grand Junction, Fruita and Palisade, Colorado. I grew up in the area and feel very fortunate to get to call it home. I love cycling and want to share the great things our valley has to offer with the world. If you can do it outdoors, you can do it within 45 minutes of any home we manage. Skiing and wine country tourism too! A few notes about the owner: Charlie grew up in Western Colorado, his wife on the Great Lakes. When it came time to retire they loved both regions too much to choose just one, so they built this house as a winter getaway. It reflects their active interests (biking, golf, hiking) and contemplative pursuits (reading and writing). The landscape here inspired Charlie's recent novel, MONUMENT ROAD.
Michelle Melgares purchased this House in 2006
Why Michelle Melgares chose Grand Junction
In 1999 with another family member, the owners bought a sizable stretch of property that abuts the Bangs Canyon Recreation Area with its extensive trail system. They worked with a local architect to take advantage of the site's scenic prospects while respecting others' views and leaving a modest footprint in the fragile desert. The adjoining public lands and large private lots create a feeling of privacy. We can be off by ourselves on trails within a minute, reach the grocery store in five and get downtown on a bike in 25. Of all the great views we could have highlighted with the name, we chose Echo Canyon, visible out our south windows and reachable in 45 minutes on foot or by an intermediate mountain biker. It represents the many other parts of the landscape accessible here but also off the beaten path.
What makes this House unique
The house was designed and built from scratch and it reflects the owners lifestyle and love for this remarkable landscape. (Their brother-in-law calls its architectural style 'Frank Lloyd Left.') They have decided to share it with others who share a love for the outdoors and the indoors, and for peace and quiet. (They lived here for years before deciding to bring in the TVs!)
