About Charles & Joshua
We are an Australian-Dutch couple living in Amsterdam. We fell in love with Andalusia and the Axarquia region some years ago. We are thrilled to have a home away from home in the beautiful countryside that we can share with others. We are avid hikers and love exploring the local hikes in La Axarquia, but also when we go on holiday to other countries. Our dog, Olivia (who we have now named the villa after) is a lively, adventurous former rescue dog who brings a lot of joy to our lives. We are passionate about the environment and finding ways to live as sustainably as possible, We are gradually making Casa Olivia more and more sustainable and strive to use environmentally friendly products where possible.
Why Charles & Joshua chose Competa
Casa Olivia is an ideally located, well proportioned and perfectly maintained villa, situated in the peaceful Axarquia countryside. One of two houses on a short fully paved driveway off the main Torrox-Competa road it is very easy to get to and also very accessible for the villages of Competa and Torrox, hiking in the nearby national parks and countryside and the beautiful unspoilt beaches east of Nerja. Fully self contained it is stocked with high quality appliances, kitchen equipment and facilities to ensure a peaceful and relaxing stay. As it is our "home away from home" we take pride in it and do our best to ensure it is very comfortable place to stay for others. We have been fortunate that our guests also treat it with respect so that others can continue to enjoy it. Note: The property was previously known as Casa Rosaleda but have changed it to Casa Olivia after our dog. The property was taken off the rental market for a couple of years, which is why there is a break since the last reviews. We have decided to put the property back on the holiday rental market so that others can enjoy our wonderful villa and the beautiful environment.
What makes this Villa unique
The views from around the house are incredibly spectacular and diverse. We love having morning coffee out front, watching the sun kiss the mountain tops, breakfast and lunch on the side terrace with the view framed by the established palm trees and dining in the barbecue area at the end of the pool with the beautifully framed views of the neighbouring hills to La Maroma. Peaceful and quiet you do sometimes hear the bells of the local goat herder which anchors you in the countryside. We regularly see hawks and birds of prey hovering over the valley. At night the hillsides sparkle with the lights of distant villas and the skies are filled with stars. There is very little light pollution in this area and we love looking at the Milky Way. The pool is a great size to relax in and cool down from sunning yourself on the extensive terraces. We have a small citrus grove behind the pool terrace area. Please feel free to help yourself to citrus fruits (when in season) . Limequats are delicious in a gin and tonic. We are also going to cultivate a small herb/vegetable garden which we hope our guests can enjoy.
