About Marion & David Rivers
Marion and David have owned Matilda Cottage since 2014. We are retirees enjoying rural life in the Macedon Ranges. David had a corporate career that saw us moving several times to different Australian states and overseas. Since retiring we have loved making the Macedon Ranges our home. We delight in sharing our beautiful property and nearby unique attractions of the Macedon Ranges with guests.

Why Marion & David Rivers chose Gisborne South
Matilda Cottage has everything guests need for a relaxing country escape yet is close enough to enjoy rural life or travel to the city. We are available for any assistance or information but you will have quiet, private and peaceful enjoyment of the cottage.
What makes this Cottage unique
The property has many large gums and a magnificent number of Australian native birds including kookaburras, parrots and cockatoos living around the cottage. We have regular visits from wildlife including kangaroos and possums. Close by are regional National Parks and cycleways and walks. Other nearby attractions include our local and regional farmers' markets each week, with our local artisan products. Gisborne has its own large olde time market each month. Every season brings a new delight. Summer, for a brief time our local cherry orchards are in full production, autumn our beautiful local apples and autumn leaves, winter, for bracing country walks and local country pubs for lunches by the fire, spring, new growth, wonderful gardens and blossom.
