Hi There! We are LLoyd and Susie (Anita) Lawrence. We purchased this point of waterfront land and unfinished house in the summer of 2000 as a second home. We then spent about 2 or 3 years fixing the building. We had to improve everything including windows, walls, roofs, decks, heat, yard, dock and so forth. Actually we are still in the process of improving the house and land which is almost 3.9 acres.
In 2000 we also owned, lived, and operated Maple Hill Bed and Breakfast in Freeport. We had moved from New Jersey in 1996, love fishing, and love having guests. We are both college grads with LLoyd in Sales and Susie an accountant. We have 6 children, 5 married with children, 1 engaged, and 15 grandchildren from ages 17 to 1 years old. There are So-o many children that now we really can not have all the family to Singing Cove at once.

Why they chose this property

Susie has been coming to Grand lake Stream since 1948, when her grandparents, Fred and Bobby Burghard bought land and built Turtle Cove Camp. From Singing Cove Camp, Turtle Cove Camp is about five houses away, nearer to the Grand Lake Stream town beach, the boat launch, and the dam on the same side of West Grand Lake. I grew up there every summer until my grandmother died when I was about 17 years old. Back then, there were not even roads, electric, and phone to camp, so we came in by canoe. Some folks here still continue to access their homes by boat only and just have propane for power.

Grand Lake Stream and West Grand Lake are still back in the 50's as far as folks living in peace with just nature all around them. Now, however, we have many of the easy living modern electronic age amenities which have been added as needed. have resident animals- a friendly chipmunk, hummingbirds, deer with fawns, a bald eagle, black duck and loon families, and a red fox. It is a place of heaven for all ages so you do not want to leave.

What makes this property unique

Grand Lake Stream from the dam is a world famous salmon fly fishing stream. Only fly fishing is allowed in the stream which runs all the way to Big Lake. Orvis and LLBean run fly fishing schools in summer. The town is tiny, lovely, and far away from the busy world. A small store which carries equipment in season, basic food and supplies plus a town hall building is town. From our house you see the Grand Lake guides canoes with 2 guests going up lake early in the morning. Kayaks also go by. A float plane lands a few times a week bringing people to stay at various camps/homes. The Lakes can be fished in any manner. West Grand Lake is full of landlocked salmon, small mouth bass, large deep lake trout, perch, etc. Lake water is pristine and lovely for swimming and home use. The lake is large, over 100 feet deep in places, and directly connected to a chain of smaller lakes with 100 miles of shore line. Big Lake at the end of the Stream is famous for small mouth bass and perch which practically jump in the boat. The area is a fisherman's dream spot.
In the winter on the lake is a town of ice fishing houses just past our point. The Grand Lake Stream town is right on the ITS snowmobile trail with Canada and all of Maine. The trail runs right by our drive. There are loads of native blueberries to pick on our land as well as along the roads coming in from the middle of July through out the summer for eating and cooking. We have incredible views, and sunsets seen from the hammock, lawn chairs, swing, deck, outdoor tables, enclosed lakefront porch well as everywhere inside the camp. Singing Cove is a fabulous place.
