Breathtaking views and home
My friends and I loved our time spent at Merrihill. I arrived later at night after the sun had set. I awoke to the stunning views of Lake Erie. The home itself is large and can accommodate large parties. Plenty of beds, chairs, and bathrooms, to meet the needs of parties, both large and small. Being that it was late October, the weather was a bit chilly. However, that did not stop us from walking along the beach. The home is near all the tourist attractions in Niagara(about a 30-minute drive), but just far away that they are not bothersome (in regards to traffic, noise, congestion, etc.). Our host was also accommodating, informative, and only a phone call/text away if we needed her (something I much appreciate in a host). I would love to stay at Merrihill during the summer months to utilize the outside amenities offered. For now, I am content with what the home had to provide us during our stay. I highly recommend it to any looking to stay in the area or wanting to visit Niagara with a large party.
Beautiful location very relaxing
We stayed here for an extended weekend and had a beautiful stay. The renters were very easy to get ahold of if we needed anything and the house was gorgeous. If we had to make any type of complaint about our stay it would just be that the mattress's probably need to be replaced. They were very uncomfortable to sleep in due to the age of the mattress making it difficult to get a good nights sleep. But you couldnt beat the view and the relaxing atmosphere of being right on the water and listening to the waves as they splashed outside of the house.
Gorgeous property with amazing views of the lake. We had an awesome stay here and will come back
Wonderful Vacation House on the Beach
What a lovely place, in a great community, and a great location right on the beach. Thank you for sharing your lovely vacation house with us!
Truly relaxing experience with the best lake view
The pictures don't lie. Exquisitely decorated clean home offers a great setting for a family gathering. This home is located among similar homes in a rural setting and it provided plenty of quality time.
Lovely lake home
The location provides a wonderful view of the water and the kitchen was very well equipped. Great for a family gathering.
Our cottage sits up on a hill overlooking Lake Erie. We have southern exposure. The view is amazing all year round. It is always changing. The sky and the water will be different every time you take a look. The beach is very nice, mostly sandy but the waves can bring in the most beautiful rocks and stones. Great for collecting or just admiring. The entry into the water is shallow. Great for swimming or water sports. You can also take a long walk on the beach in either direction, (be courteous of the other landowners along the lake – it is all private)
The private laneway to the cottage is also very beautiful. It varies with open farmland and forested areas, this makes for great walks as well. Or if you prefer to go for a bike ride, the access to the Friendship Trail (bike trail) is right up the road.
Whisky Run Golf Club is just a block away. It’s a lovely golf course known as the friendliest in the Niagara Region.
Downtown Port Colborne, only 5 minutes away has many quaint shops, bars and restaurants. On Friday mornings we have an amazing Farmers Market. There are numerous other events such as the Thursday night car show, Art Crawl, Canal days Festival, fishing tournaments and much more. Look up the City of Port Colborne for a list of events. Take a stroll along the canal on West st. where you can watch as ships pass through the Welland Canal and Lock System that links Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. A public boat launch is in town near H.H. Knoll Park.
Niagara Falls is a 30 minute drive and has many attractions, casinos, nature trails and parks. NOTL (Niagara on the Lake) is 45 minutes away and features many award winning wineries and craft breweries.
Ridgeway/Chrystal Beach is only 10 minutes away and also has many great restaurants as well as Brimstone, a Craft Brewery.
The Peace Bridge (Fort Erie/Buffalo) is a 20 minute drive.
