About Joseph & Rebecca McGovern
Joe and I have lived in Stowe since 1988, we bought this house in 1991. Joe is originally from Portland, Maine and I am originally from Cape Cod. We have spent the past 30 years renovating our home and raising our seven children. Our children have all grown up now and we find we have a big house to ourselves. We love to rent to families who will enjoy the property as much as we do.

Why Joseph & Rebecca McGovern chose Stowe
We bought this property because it was a great place to raise a family. It is quiet yet close to everything. We can go for a 10 mile run, cross country ski or snowshoe or mountain bike right from our door through hundreds of acres of preserved state land. The fresh Vermont spring water that comes out of the faucets is cold and refreshing and flows right from our own land. The house itself was built in 1850 and is full of farmhouse charm.
What makes this House unique
The sheep that graze in the fields adjacent to the house give it a very pastoral feel. You feel removed from the shopping in town and on the mountain road yet they are only a few miles away.

Great house for families
We had a great time at this house. Conveniently located and enough bedrooms for our family. The sheep, chickens and available snow gear were bonuses that made our stay even better.
Warm and Welcoming Home
From the email communication from owners and the welcoming greeting from the resident sheep, we knew this home would be special. Plenty of room for our big family; house was clean and had a fabulous kitchen and big table for meals & card games. Easy access to town and skiing. We loved staying here! Host was thoughtful and gracious.
The property is gorgeous and spacious, check-in and out was very easy! A wonderful experience
Rambling country farmhouse equipped with everything needed for a large family getaway.
The owners were very communicative and pleasant. On the locals shortcut route to Stowe, it is in an extremely convenient location. Overall a warm and inviting country home.
We had a great New Years at the McGovern farm house in Stowe. Rebecca was so responsive and made everything very easy from the get-go. The house provides all the comforts of home in a great location not far from the ski mountain and other activities. Our kids loved playing in the backyard and checking out the animals. We had fires daily in the wood stove and cooked a lot of our own meals in the kitchen. Two options for coffee - either Keurig or drip. Would recommend to other families looking for some relaxed time in the mountains!
Very nice old farmhouse.
Great place, great location. Loved the sheep and chickens. We would definetliy stay here again.
Hundreds of acres of fields and forests abuts the property offering privacy and access to trails to explore by foot, bike or skis. Nebraska Valley is tucked away from the bustle of town but just a minutes drive to downhill and cross country facilities.
