3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, sleeps 6
I spent every summer in Cape Dauphin and so have my kids who are now 18. This is our Happy Place!
Richard purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Richard chose Cape Dauphin
My parents gave me the land and I had this fabulous property built and I want to share this amazing tranquil spot with others. It is truly a getaway from it "all" place. A piece of heaven. Come connect with nature.
What makes this Cottage unique
Peace, serene and down time. Amazing sunsets. Breezes from the salty ocean air.

Great vacation setup
A 9.5 km drive down a dirt road leads to two rentals together on a spacious cleared lot with privacy, a pond and a rocky Atlantic beach. Plenty of parking space. Awesome sunrise and moonrise views over the water. The porch and deck are huge - the pool and hot tub were not available for our October stay. Spacious open living area. Lots of room for cooking in the kitchen and grilling on the porch. Downstairs bedrooms are small. The loft is big and the half bath is convenient-there’s a dresser but no closet. Quiet and beautiful location about 15-20 minute drive to food, groceries, gas, and supplies. Good support/availability from property manager.
Hi there, glad you enjoyed yourself, I see that you put 4 stars for your review is there any areas that need attention? We were a little rushed getting things ready for you as we just got our power back the same after noon of your arrival due to Hurricane Dorian.
Cape Dauphin sea and mountain
It was well equipped for cooking. The setting was spectacular. We hope to return.
Absolutely gorgeous spot
I can't say enough good things about the house & the location. We are a group of 6, but 3 different families. The house & surrounding area was big enough to house us all & cosy enough for us all as well. Loved the big gorgeous windows overlooking the lake. The inside has a large well stocked kitchen, dining room & open concept living room. Thanks so much for the reading material on local tours & attractions. The kids appreciated the TV & DVD's & the board games on the rainy day we had. Internet was brilliant - for 6 people all with various devices we were all connected with no lag. Considering the location we were expecting to have to take turns with internet access but there were no issues. Big thank you for the screened in porch. We did enjoy the great outdoors but some of our group preferred to duck inside more quickly. The screened in porch was a great half way point & so nice to BBQ without having to swat the bugs! We all loved being able to walk down to the beach & the boys perfected their rock skipping skills :)
We found everything to be clean, well stocked & ready to go.
There is a smaller cottage on the other side of the deck & while it was rented while we were there, everyone was friendly & respectful of space.
Just a heads up for anyone curious about the 10km drive in - it's not too bad. Some stretches have some gravel. We found that it took anywhere from 15-20 minutes to get to the cottage from the main road - but we were in hire cars & taking it slow. And we did stop at the UFO landing site! All in all the house was brilliant, Richard easy & approachable with any of my questions & the location perfect for us. And yes, closest grocery store & wine is 35 minutes away...... 😉
Lovely ocean view
We enjoyed walking along the beach in both directions. Great views of lobster boats; bald eagles, and lovely sunrises.
Conveniently located to the Cabot Trail. Enjoyed easy trip to Baddeck for dinner and sailing tour and visited the Bell museum.
Wonderful waterfront property
Convenient to Cabot trail and Sydney attractions. Great views of the sunrises. Love to come back every year!
Located on a private beach, you can walk for miles and not see anybody. From Cape Dauphin you can do all your day trips around the island. Down the road there is Kelly's wharf where you can fish mackerel, buy fresh lobster, join in with the cottagers for a bonfire. Close by there is Bird Island boat tours, boat charters and whale watching, world-class golf course (Bell Bay), Highlands National Park, hiking trails, Alexander Graham Bell Museum and historic fortress of Louisbourg. It is 50 minutes from Sydney, 30 minutes to shopping area in North Sydney, 25 minutes to the tourist town of Baddeck.
