About Gloria Woerheide
I am a computer software consultant. This house was my primary residence when I moved to the New London area from Chicago. I love the area and would not have moved out, except that I bought a larger house to turn into a bed and breakfast inn.
Gloria Woerheide purchased this House in 1996
Why Gloria Woerheide chose New London
Originally I came to the area for work and to live by the water. As time passed, I became more and more aware of all of the interesting things to do in the area. As the casinos grew, they brought in more and more first class entertainers and live sporting events. Being from Chicago I am accustomed to having many entertainment choices. In an area like New London County, you wouldn't think you would find the same level of entertainment, but because of the casinos you do. I count myself lucky to have found this place. So much so, that I plan to retire here one day.
What makes this House unique
We have 6 bedrooms on 3 floors. Older children and teens love our third floor because it has a couch/futon,TV with video cassette player, and cartoon and movie tapes, plus can be closed off from the rest of the house. Some have referred to it as their fort because of the vaulted ceiling. The backyard is fenced, which is great if you have small children or dogs. On the first floor, our miniature dachshunds used to love chasing each other from the living room, through the kitchen, to the dining room and sitting area, and back to the living room without stopping. We have bookshelves with board games, several versions of Trivia, a few children's books, a few novels, and lots of magazines. If you take a paperback book or magazine, we ask that you leave one for others to read. If you have magazines or paperbacks you are finished with, you can leave them with us for others to enjoy. We could also use some more children's books, board games, and VCR or DVD movies suitable for children. We sometimes live in the house in the winter months, so our kitchen is fully equipped. Neptune Park is a family neighborhood and all guests must follow the beach association rules which help keep our beach a family beach.

The home was big enough for our entire family, and the location was perfect! It's an older home with lots of character, and all the modern day amenities. We enjoyed our stay here!
Quiet Neighborhood, Close to Beach
This house was large enough for our family of 4 adults and 3 children. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood and very close to the beach. The kids loved being so close. Gloria was easy to work with and provided us with lots recommendations for the area.
Had a family celebration vacation with 10 adults. Room for us all. Loved the area. I believe the owner is working on some upgrades. Dishwasher only worked on heavy cycle and furniture is very soft, dryer squeaks (part on order). I also recommend putting some blankets under your sheet as there is no mattress pad and mattress has a plastic cover and I got very sweaty. It is not a pristine house. If you don't mind those things you will enjoy your stay. We were able to work around everything and had a great time. We spent most of our time exploring the New England area. We would rent again for this price.
Made for a sublime reunion, for a family of 7 and our 2 pooches. Everything was very accommodating. We spent a lot of time on the front porch once we discovered the child proof gate:) Beautiful neighborhood. Ocean beach and private beach both an easy walk. Lovely!
The location was excellent, and the property was wonderful and matched description.
We had three families on vaca together with children 3-8 years old. The property was perfect for all our needs and the location to the beaches was fantastic. The property offered more than enough space for the 11 of us to spread out and come together.
Convenient, large house
The house is well sized and great for a big group, while still having a lot of separate rooms for couples, etc. We had 10 people staying there comfortably. The location is convenient - close to the beaches and also to the cute old town of Mystic. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants near the house. Would recommend for big groups.
We are located in Southeastern Connecticut, close to lighthouses (water tours available), Mystic CT, the US. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Submarine Force Museum, Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park, Connecticut College Arboretum, Foxwoods Casino, and Mohegan Sun Casino (my favorite). We are about an hour from Newport, RI. and half way between Boston and New York.
Other Activities: Bring your own kayak
Golf: You can play golf in a natural wooded setting near Foxwoods casino at Foxwoods Golf and Country Club at Boulder Hills or the new Lake of Isles course which Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine called 'One of the Best New Upscale Public Courses'.
