About Sarah Goncalves
We are down to earth, fortunate, San Diego natives who love the laid back lifestyle and the hip new vibe in Cardiff by-the-Sea. We are proud to have a home here. We love to get away to the mountains in winter and enjoy an active lifestyle of sports and travel. Family, good friends, and good health are our highest priorities.
Sarah Goncalves purchased this Townhome in 2006
Why Sarah Goncalves chose Cardiff-by-the-Sea
Our dream was always to own a home by the beach – to enjoy those stunning sunsets, wild surf, runs at low tide, and the hot sand between your toes….I was fortunate enough to make that a reality in 2006. The views are stunning and are never the same- i never get tired of seeing the dolphins cruise by or hearing the surfers each morning!

We had a wonderful stay here! The house was great, rooms spacious, but the best part was the patio. And the view can’t be beat! Thanks for making this such an enjoyable retreat for us :)
Nice spot but quite small and close to the highway so traffic noise was consistently loud.
It's a fine place but has some significant downsides that we were not aware of, I'm sharing those so you can make an informed decision. Overall I do not think this listing is a good value - if it were less expensive perhaps but if I were to do the trip over we would select other housing. Why?
- The house is very small, it feels like a studio and is not suited to a group of adults cooking and hanging out inside together. This is apparent when you see the 1/2 sink in the kitchen. It's all sufficient but feels small and cramped. Not a big deal, you think, because a key feature of this place is the large outdoor patio and that's where you'll want to spend time anyways. right?
- Wrong. The property is quite close to: a major street, a highway and train tracks. The traffic noise was loud and constant so while the view of the ocean was quite pretty it was not enjoyable to sit outside as advertised. You can deduce this by looking at the map but we weren't expecting the level of traffic noise we encountered. My suggestion would be to find a property on the other (beach) side of the 101 highway.
- It's a downstairs unit so you're going to wake up with the folks upstairs. Not a huge issue but also not ideal.
To summarize, it was a fine place and the host was nice but it isn't worth the price.
We are sorry to learn that our home did not meet your expectations. None of our hundreds of other guests have ever given us remotely similar feedback. In fact, most have felt quite the opposite, including friends and family. Our kitchen is not huge, but spacious enough for one or two cooks with a full size single sink, oven, cooktop, fridge and dishwasher. Yes, most have enjoyed quiet time in the covered and heated outdoor living space. Thank you again for sharing your experience.
This property is perfect for a relaxing retreat feel. A few friends and I came here for my birthday and couldn’t have been more pleased. Most of our time was spent on the patio. Gorgeous weather. Ocean view with the sounds of waves crashing. Walking distance to everything.
Thank you thank you for making our get away even better than expected.
Lovely location for a quiet Thanksgiving. Fabulous view!
Everything we needed was there
We had a family and friend reunion of sorts and everyone chose to hang at the rental on Friday because the patio is so group friendly. We had our group (6) plus two locals and it was great to eat dinner out on the patio and enjoy the sunset. The beds are comfy and the bedrooms large - you don't feel cramped when getting ready to go out. The neighborhood was great - we walked to dinner in town. We wished we would have had time to use the recreational toys available - e.g. Foosball table, boogie boards etc. Great service by this property manager - very accommodating.
Love all of it
Great getaway weekend with my mother and my little pet. We all really enjoyed the space, and the beds were super comfortable! Super easy all around, and Sarah was amazing...very responsive and super accommodating!
Legoland (10 minues away), Sea World (20 minutes away) the San Diego Zoo (25 minutes away) and Wild Animal Park are awesome attractions enjoyed by children and adults. We hold annual memberships to Sea World and Zoo/Wild Animal Park because we enjoy them so much! We are also 5-10 Minutes from Del Mar Horse Track, fairgrounds and Torrey Pines Golf Course. There are several golf courses within 15 minutes from our home. Stephen Birch Aquarium is great. La Jolla, Downtown San Diego and historic Gaslamp district are also popular. Balboa Park, museums! Hiking trails on the coast at Torrey pines. There are so many activities and attractions to choose from, picking is the most difficult part. Also, Disneyland/California Adventure Park and Knotts Berry Farm are only a 1.5 hour drive North.
