About Mark Anderson
My wife and I work in education. We have lived in Idaho 33+ years and love it. This cabin is located in an area that still retains much of the original Idaho flavor. That means that people are friendly, not in a hurry, and not all interested in making the next buck. While McCall and Sun Valley's economies have been largely replaced by the tourist industry, Garden Valley's resource based community refuses to die. Garden Valley is about the outdoors but not about fancy restaurants and expensive galleries. We like that because we come up to get away from it all. If this appeals to you, you'll love it there. There are a few restaurants but when you are at the cabin, you are there to be
Mark Anderson purchased this Cabin in 1992
Why Mark Anderson chose Garden Valley
We bought the property and built the cabin directly on the world famous whitewater river, the South Fork Payette. There is fishing, camping, hunting, mountain biking, jeep trails, ATV trails, etc. There is plenty of undeveloped, non-commercial outdoor recreation to do here.
What makes this Cabin unique
Benefits include access to the river. The birding from the deck is great. We view osprey, eagles, hummingbirds, tanagers, herons, and other birds. You have access to lots and lots of beautiful mountain country with lots of hot springs and other surprises.

There needed to be some better candles for when the power goes out.
The location on the river is lovely especially from the deck, but in order to enjoy any solitude for a spiritual retreat, even on weekdays, you need to remain inside the cabin so as not to hear the shooting range just across the river from the cabin. We kept in mind that this is the beginning of hunting season, so the range might be busier.
There is. Bedroom and a bathroom on each level, which is nice for privacy, but know that the stairs are steep with no railings. Little ones and older ones might find this a problem.
wonderful unplugged time with loved ones.
great location to see the Idaho hills( ha ha).. some serious altitude. Hot springs, wild life, trees, rivers, streams, aviation. Crouch business's were wonderful.. Payette Forward was great, Radio station, the eateries in town, the hardware store, the mercantile , the market, and the gas station... all were welcoming
lovely location, but the housekeeping was lacking.
We had good communication with the owner, but the property inside was not clean, and a bed was not made in one of the bedrooms. The deck with the river immediatlely below us was wonderful!
Loved our stay!
I kept saying, “I want to buy this property!” It was the most perfect spot, well built and laid out cabin, and beautiful views off the huge hang out deck. It was perfect for sound rest and having a quiet weekend of gratitude. I’d go back again and again. Thank you Anderson’s for a wonderful stay!
Thanks for the review. We do try to give our guest a unique cabin experience. We love our cabin and keep it up for ourselves and our guests. We're not perfect, but we will do what we can to make your stay special because it's special to us.
We had a really lovely stay. It was quiet, cozy, and enjoyable. The kids loved running around the property. We definitely would stay here again. My mother-in-law wished there were handrails for the stairs, but that was her only complaint! My father-in-law loved sitting on the beautiful deck to watch the river. My husband and I enjoyed having coffee on the deck in the morning. We saw a couple of deer on the driveway last night. My son thinks he saw a bear in the woods too. Thank you for a great stay!
The Payette River area near Garden Valley is great for rafting, kayaking, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, ATV, or motorcycle riding. There are trails right out the door from the cabin. Also, kayaking, rafting, paddle boarding can be done right from the cabin.
