Kona Ocean front Vacation Rental, 2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 4-6) Oceanview
About Mark Stone
Married 35 years, two children, two grandchildren, 5 dogs. 2 goats, 3 Macaws, and a few other critters. Throughout the years and having visited the Islands of Hawaii, we fell in love with the Big Island. In 2008 we purchased Kona Luana, units 2 and three, a unique oceanfront, 3 unit condominium. The Hawaiian beaches, beautiful scenery, Polynesian culture and slower pace is what we fell in love with. Imagine driving without traffic, where people are very friendly, the beaches are breathtaking and not over crowded, the sunsets are spectacular, weather is always outstanding. The Hawaiian Islands claim 8 - 11 of the worlds 14 climate zones. Living on the Big Island is about as close as it gets to being in heaven. A place we hope to visit often and retire too soon.

Why Mark Stone chose Kailua-Kona
Situated right on the ocean, this unit has 3 private lanais. Two overlooking the pacific ocean and the other that overlooks Alii Drive. Each lanai includes an outdoor barbecue grill, lounge chairs and tables. Centrally located, Kona Luana is within a ten minute walk of Kailua-Kona Village. There are many attractions some of which include Kailua-Kona pier, variety of dinning options, waterfront shopping, Farmers Market, coffee shops and friendly locals. Kona Luana is about 10 miles south of Kona Airport and about a 1 hour drive to volcano park.

Nice condo, close to Kona tourist strip
The condo was very clean and a well equipped kitchen and there was even boggie boards, beach chairs, mats and towels for us to use, which was very appreciated. Mark provided very detailed instructions on the check-in process which was extremely easy. The views from the lanai were extraordinary, this is truly ocean front and we were lulled to sleep every night by the crashing waves. There were very few minor downsides, this condo is right on the main strip, so a bit noisy, however the bedrooms were upstairs so not really an issue sleep-wise. There was no Kleenex and we ran out of TP so we have to buy our own.
Great property at great location and wonderful host
Very memorable stay at this oceanfront property, honest representation and even reality is better than photos. Wonderful accommodating owners from start to finish. You need binoculars to see whales in more details and dolphins playing. You can see schools of yellow fish by naked eye from the balcony. Best beach is Kamakahonu as it is protected from the open ocean so less wave and currents we were there everyday no exception. The view from the property is to die for specially mornings till noon time. few minutes to the dock of bikeshare where you can rent-a-bike, it takes you to the Farmers Market where the best fruits are. And it takes to the live and lovely Magic Sand Beach. I believe there is no need to do anything else on the Big Island as you stay in this wonderful property. Although we couldn't resist the temptation and we visited the Volcano..eh...without Lava lake it is not impressive honestly. We visited as well AKAKA Falls...paradise..you stay there like 30 minutes and we call it a trip. Otherwise daily beach trip...enjoying the sun, sand, and snorkeling. The property has a well stocked pantry and a wonderful kitchen that I cooked so many wonderful meals thanks to Costco's proximity. Spacious and clean, well ventilated...of course just open both window and door and here you have the best breeze ever, no need for AC honestly. You sleep and wake up on the waves crashing the shoreline...paradise. Best memorable restaurants by proximity; 1. Jackie Reys..great elegant tasty meals. 2. Broke Da Mouth..Hawaiian dishes featured on DDD both there is at least 30-45 minutes wait, worth it. 3. Barefoot Zone..excellent Acai bowls and great lunch/breakfast joint, each plate is enough for at least two people. And finally 4. Umeke Poke..our preferred destination for a perfect Poke at the beach. If you have a car Costco's poke is amazing and at a great price. Thanks to the owners once again. Zack and Family.
The place was great
As advertised really appreciated getting a late check out and if you want to see Moray eels put some chicken into the tidal pools in the evening
Big Island Adventure
Our first time visiting The Big Island!! This property was in a great location to fabulous snorkeling and cute tourist downtown activities. We toured the whole island and enjoyed coming back to this home away from home everyday. Great owner and extremely helpful housekeeping. We so enjoyed our stay.
gem in the heart of Kailua
whether you love being lulled to sleep by the waves crashing on the rocks just below your deck, or waking to that same inviting sound, this place is for you. convenient to everything.
Can't beat the view!
This unit is literally right on the water, with a beautiful ocean view from upper and lower lanai. Location is excellent, as it is very close to Kona town. We travel to Hawaii often from Alaska and I must say that the property owner is one of the more responsive owners we have come across, on the islands. Mark is very quick to address any problems you may have. I would recommend this vacation rental to friends and family. Mahalo!
