A narrow strip of tame wilderness with a rustic boardwalk exists between you and the ocean. Kids play in garden, on beach, & in Noddy House.
Spend the day with a book on the front deck, fishing on the beach or at the river mouth, breakfast watching the sunrise or supper watching the moonrise, wake up with a morning swim, spend days siteseeing/wine tastings, overland tour to the gannets ... come home to the sound of the sea and a drink on the deck after a full day exploring!
SLEEPING:There's one double bed downstairs and a "storage loft" (reached by ladder) with double and single mattresses.
KITCHEN WELL EQUIPPED: small but everything you need for a simple meal.
DECK: small table and deck chairs.
BATHROOM: Shower, handbasin, toilet, opening window.
FOOD: There is a great local take-away shop with fresh fish and a range of other food, as well as a small supermarket, Gannets Bar, Brown Dog Coffee caravan all one km.
Several award winning vineyards with restaurants (Elephant Hill, Clearview Estate and Te Awanga Estate) are within 5km and great cafe HYGGE at the end of the road.
THINGS TO DO:
- The reknown Coastal Cycle Track goes past the front gate. Use it to explore the amazing network of Hawkes Bay Cycle trails, you can spend your days exploring the region on your own bikes or hire them when you arrive. Local cycle hire 'Coastal Wine Cycles'.
- Take an overland tour to the Gannet Sanctuary at Cape Kidnappers.
- Cape Kidnappers golf course (one of the top 10 in the world).
- Te Mata Peak - stunning view from the top on a clear day (Havelock North) - climb it, walk the many trails including a Redwood Forest, or drive to the top.
- Farmyard Zoo, Haumoana.
- Great base from which to explore art deco city of Napier, the arts and wine trails of Hawkes Bay Wine Country, the city of Hastings and village of Havelock North (all just 12 km distance from Haumoana).
Or just kick back and enjoy the eclectic nature of the coastal communities of the Cape Coast - Haumoana, Te Awanga and Clifton - cafes, artists, gannet tours, restaurants, vineyards, beach walks, river and sea swimming, surfing, even throw in a line and maybe catch a kahawai!
