About this property

BEACH FRONT - TRANQUIL & RELAXING - 15 MINUTES TO NAPIER

A PLACE TO CHILL OUT AND FROM WHICH TO EXPLORE - adults appreciate it - kids just love it. Noddy House is small and special!
A narrow strip of tame wilderness with a rustic boardwalk exists between you and the ocean. Kids play in garden, on beach, & in Noddy House.
Spend the day with a book on the front deck, fishing on the beach or at the river mouth, breakfast watching the sunrise or supper watching the moonrise, wake up with a morning swim, spend days siteseeing/wine tastings, overland tour to the gannets ... come home to the sound of the sea and a drink on the deck after a full day exploring!

SLEEPING:There's one double bed downstairs and a "storage loft" (reached by ladder) with double and single mattresses.
KITCHEN WELL EQUIPPED: small but everything you need for a simple meal.
DECK: small table and deck chairs.
BATHROOM: Shower, handbasin, toilet, opening window.

FOOD: There is a great local take-away shop with fresh fish and a range of other food, as well as a small supermarket, Gannets Bar, Brown Dog Coffee caravan all one km.
Several award winning vineyards with restaurants (Elephant Hill, Clearview Estate and Te Awanga Estate) are within 5km and great cafe HYGGE at the end of the road.
THINGS TO DO:
- The reknown Coastal Cycle Track goes past the front gate. Use it to explore the amazing network of Hawkes Bay Cycle trails, you can spend your days exploring the region on your own bikes or hire them when you arrive. Local cycle hire 'Coastal Wine Cycles'.
- Take an overland tour to the Gannet Sanctuary at Cape Kidnappers.
- Cape Kidnappers golf course (one of the top 10 in the world).
- Te Mata Peak - stunning view from the top on a clear day (Havelock North) - climb it, walk the many trails including a Redwood Forest, or drive to the top.
- Farmyard Zoo, Haumoana.
- Great base from which to explore art deco city of Napier, the arts and wine trails of Hawkes Bay Wine Country, the city of Hastings and village of Havelock North (all just 12 km distance from Haumoana).

Or just kick back and enjoy the eclectic nature of the coastal communities of the Cape Coast - Haumoana, Te Awanga and Clifton - cafes, artists, gannet tours, restaurants, vineyards, beach walks, river and sea swimming, surfing, even throw in a line and maybe catch a kahawai!

Lovely Seaside Hideaway
This lovely little sea side cabin acted as the perfect base of operations to explore the area. Comfortable for the two of us, with easy beach access (not really a swimming beach, especially in fall/winter) and the sound of the surf is omnipresent.

Great value
Great location for exploring the area. Everything is in easy reach. If I'm honest it was possibly a bit small for two adults and two bosterous tweens/teens. But that meant we got out and did lots. Perfect for a couple. But it was great value for money and does have everything you need.

About the host

Host profile image
After traveling a lot and ending up workng in Auckland, I moved to Haumoana about 25+ years ago and love it beside the sea, a constant reminder of life!
I have worked as a freelance graphic designer for most of that time.
The community is close knit and diverse.
There is swimming, cycling, walking, beach combing, fishing ... all the immediate amenities I need. Haumoana Coffee is a stroll down the road (500m at a guess) - makes great coffee, has a range of sweetslices and yummy pies + an outdoor area full of character. There are award-winning winery restaurants, various outdoor summer events, the great Hygge Clifton Cafe, fish'n'chips or a hamburger sitting on the beach from takeaway shop beside the mini supermaket (4 Square), a drink & nibbles or All Black games at the local bar ... and its just 15 minutes from Napier or Hastings or Havelock North for all the town action! Paradise!

Why they chose this property

It is loved and unique. Please read the comments people have written! They say it all. I have never asked people to make comments on this site or asked for any to be deleted!
I have a visitors book in Noddy House that is delightful - hand drawings, poems, generous comments about the host ... etc. There are also a few novels, magazines such as NZ Geographic, some home & garden type etc, childrens books ....

What makes this property unique

A good spot for families of 4 because the kids really enjoy it, providing that space for parents to relax.
Beach front property, unassuming but has almost everything, rustic.
On the renowned Hawkes Bay coastal section of the NZ Cycle Trail.
Great for relaxation with occasional walk or cycle ride short or long.
Lots of local attractions.
