Beachfront House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible Beds, 2 Baths. Sleeps 6.
Why Lynette chose Waianae
Our family inherited this property from our Aunt whose husband was a contractor and built this house many years ago. Because it is on the west coast of Oahu and one of the most beautiful places on the island, we decided to turn it into a vacation rental so that other people could enjoy the natural beauty of this unspoiled paradise as much as we do. Although this house was built many years ago, we have totally renovated it so that our wonderful guest will have the benefit of the natural beauty of the land as well as the comfort of a retreat like home. Our beach house is located in a private cove where there are only two other houses with direct access to the beach on that side of the street. For that reason you will find very little local traffic, if any, on your own private beach. The house is also by a natural reef so that when you are snorkeling, you might get to see the local marine life up close. It is located on the west side of the island where it is sunnier and drier than any other place on Oahu. In fact, when it is raining on other places of the island, you will still be having the sun shine down upon you. Because the sun sets on the west side of the island, your days will be longer and sunnier which means you will be lounging on the beach longer soaking up that sunshine so that when you return home it will be with a beautiful tan.

Great Get Away
Beautiful views of the ocean and mountains. The beach just a few steps from your door. If traveling during whale season it’s the perfect place to sit back relax and watch for spouts and breach’s we had a added bonus of seeing turtles and a visit from a monk seal
Nice to have Julie and Herman on site for local questions and advice
Enjoyed our stay.
Herman and Julie are so warm and welcoming. The house is immaculate and well equipped. We enjoyed our stay especially sitting on the beach in the evening and listening to the waves. The house was comfortable with one exception. It was so hot and it has no air conditioning. The breeze was not enough. One other side note. I didn’t realize the large homeless population problem, they have lots of camps around and occasionally wonder by on the beach. You also have to make sure everything is secure and locked at all times. Herman does a great job of watching the property so it’s not like you feel unsafe.
Aloha Lisa, Thank you so much for staying at our beach house. Please come back to visit us at anytime. Unfortunately, this year has been exceptionally warm. Although during this time of year it is warmer than usual, the overhead and floor fans coupled with the trade winds are usually sufficient to keep you comfortable. I am also glad to report that in regard to the homelessness, the city has conducted a sweep of the area so I guess the homeless will be moving to another part of the island. Although homelessness is a problem everywhere, we are fortunate indeed to have our awesome on site caretakers to watch after our wonderful guests and the property. We are also blessed to be located at the end of the beach so that only occasionally do other people wander here at the end of the cove. Thank you again for visiting us. We really enjoyed having you stay with us.
Home was well equipped and right on the beach. Herman and Julie were Fabulous and shared the best fruit pie we have ever eaten. Then Herman BBQ’ed the best ever ribs and shaded their dinner with us. The only drawback was the home does not have air conditioning and it was extremely hot. Even the trade winds didn’t cool off at night. We still truly enjoyed our stay and meeting both Julie and Herman.
Thank you for coming to visit us. We loved having you. Please come back anytime and consider this your home away from home. The trade winds are usually sufficient to keep cool but this year has been exceptionally warm. This is not the norm. Thankfully, most of the time the trade winds and fans do the trick. Aloha and Mahalo until we meet again.
Access to the beach was amazing. The caretakers are very sweet and helpful. They even made us desserts! Very pleasant experience.
Thank you soooooo much. We loved having you come and visit us. Please come back to visit us again soon. We are blessed to have wonderful visitors like you.
Nice place right on the beach
We stayed for 2 weeks in the middle of July 2019. 5 adults + a 3 year old child. This place was the perfect size for our group. One of the adults had to sleep on the pull-out sofa, but it was comfortable. The beach is your backyard, and it is very private. No other tourists around at all. An occasional local person would wander by, but very infrequent. The view from the back is spectacular. Nothing but beach and ocean. It would be hard to find anywhere else on the island with direct beach access and as much privacy for anywhere close to the low price that we paid for the number of people we had with us.
The on-site property managers, Herman and Julie, were very friendly and helpful. There is grocery store 2 blocks away (Longs Drug) and 2 larger ones within 2 miles. We had no problems finding groceries. Also several fast food places and mom & pop restaurants in the same area.
No air conditioning. We kept the windows open all day. It was fine at night with the cool breeze, but would get relatively warm inside during the day. 85 - 90 degrees. But we were usually out and about anyway during those hours.
Access to the property. For security reasons, they keep the gate from the street locked at night. If we were out after dark it was a chore to have to unlock the gate, pull into the driveway, and then relock the gate.
Homelessness and poverty. You'll see a lot of that on the west side of the island. Not a pretty sight. It was not visible from the house, but very visible along Farrington HWY / H-93 that runs between Makaha and Kapolei. However, no one ever bothered us. The homeless keep to themselves and don't cause trouble.
Lastly, distance. Kapolei is the closest place with upscale shopping and restaurants. The drive from Makaha to Kapolei takes 30 minutes. Getting to North Shore or anywhere east of Honolulu takes an hour minimum. We planned ahead for all of our daily excursions.
Thank you Elliott family. We are so honored that you chose to stay at our beach house. Sorry that you had to see the homelessness but because Hawaii has such good weather all year round it is a problem all over the island. The City has been trying to work on it and I think they have made some progress. We are also fortunate enough to be situated in cove like area right up to the beach so it makes it even more private and people tend not to wander there.
Unfortunately, this year it has been especially hot. We are lucky to have trade winds to help with that especially at night. Hope the ceiling and floor fans were helpful when you did stay in. During the day time it is also nice to just sit in the patio area with a cool drink and admire the beautiful beach and ocean view. Sometimes the turtles and seals even come to visit. So glad that you had the opportunity to visit other places on the island. You sound like seasoned travelers. Please come back to visit us anytime. We are so blessed to have visitors like you. Aloha and mahalo!
Relaxing home base on the beach.
We loved our stay here! The house was neat and tidy and falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves was fantastic. Herman and Julie made us feel right at home and were fabulous hosts. From showing us where to spot sea turtles, sharing mangoes, lupitas, and Herman's famous fruit pie, they went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.
We are a family on the go, go, go and drove all over the island to see the sights and enjoy all Oahu has to offer, however, we loved having the beach house as a relaxing home base to begin and end our busy days. This side of the island is relaxing and nice to decompress after traveling through Honolulu traffic and competing with other tourist at attractions.
Our daughters (ages 7 and 9) loved the instant beach access to play in the sand and I already miss having my morning coffee in the swing on the quiet beach. The view of the stars from the beach and the bedrooms were breathtaking as were the sunsets.
If you are looking for a relaxing oasis in Oahu, I highly recommend staying here! You will leave refreshed, renewed, and with new friends!
Aloha and Mahalo!
Awwww we are absolutely THRILLED that you enjoyed your stay! Please come back soon. We love having wonderful visitors like you come and share this paradise with us. We are blessed to have visitors like you. Hope to see you again soon.
We are a beach front with ocean property, so you will have lots of sand to lay on to get your beautiful tan 24/7 all year round. White sandy beach is just 10 steps away from your door.
Golf: There are three world class golf courses very near to our beach house. The Ko Olina golf course is Oahu's premier Ocean View Championship Golf Course designed by Ted Robinson. It is an 18 Hole Championship Golf Course which provides exceptional water features, multi tiered greens, expansive landing areas, no parallel fairways and measures up to 6,867 yards from the back tees. It is a 10 minute drive from our house. The Makaha Resort Golf Course is about 2 minutes away by car. This golf course was designed by William F. Bell to accent the stunning natural landscape of Makaha Valley. This championship course was acclaimed for its beauty as much as its rigor by Golf Digest, and was named the Island's best course by Honolulu Magazine. This classic 18 hole, 7,077 yard, par 72 course calls for a variety of shots and just about every club in your bag. With a USGA rating of 73.2 it challenges professionals and amateurs alike. Those with a sense of history will delight knowing that Hawaii's royalty used Makaha Valley for their recreation. The peacocks seen and heard throughout the valley were a gift from King Kalaukaua to the owner of the historic Makaha Valley Ranch more than 100 years ago.
