Beautiful house with a beautiful view!
We really enjoyed the Cape Cod bay view and fall colors from this old farm house style house. It was very comfortable and quaint.
Probably one of our favorite homes. Quiet friendly neighborhood. Beautiful beach. The home is the reason for coming here. So peaceful, beautiful views. Beds comfortable. Lots of supplies. Loved the kitchen and the enjoyed having the indoor fireplace. My grandchildren are already asking to come back. But next time I envision my husband and I reading by the fire. Cooking in the kitchen. Several good restaurants are close by but it’s hatd to leave.
House and view were beautiful. Attractive furnishings. Kitchen is well outfitted for cooks with adequate pots and pans, 2 refrigerators. Stove is not great but was adequate. Robin was great to work with and provided us with lots of local information and shallots, garlic, fresh limes, a basil plant and fresh eggs to enhance our stay. The beach, as described, is a bit of a walk to access and was rockier than we expected, some days worse or better than others based on the tides, but the kids had fun. They collected rocks and used them to decorate the sand castles. Highly recommend the house. Less of the quaint Cape Cod ambience in this area but was a trade off with the spectacular view of the Cape from the deck. Having the woods next door gives the house a lot of privacy, and there is a lovely walk to Sagamore Beach through the woods.
Major kitchen renovation coming up! Figured guests would prefer an electric cooktop than having to look at a propane tank outside in the beautiful scenery. (Past guests destroyed a nice induction cooktop so we replaced with standard, boring electric cooktop - not our normal high standard!) We have exciting Wolf ranges at some homes and an English AGA cooker at House by the Sea. First time our boring cooktop showed up in a review, but I don't disagree! Will put an exciting cooker there this winter. However we do have a beautiful Sub Zero refrigerator in the kitchen, Weber gas grill outside on the ocean view deck, and a Miele (German) convection oven. It will be fun to bring in a new cooker, and hope you will come back to enjoy it. As for the rocks on our sugar sand beach, ANY beach can change with the weather and storms from season to season. If you read the reviews you will see that other guests have not found the beach to be rocky - maybe a weird weather event. The beach changes, so I'm sorry there were stones on the sand. Poor Bahamas, they have roofs and windows scattered all over their sand.
What a beautiful house! It is well located and has a wonderful (and peaceful!) beach within a few minutes walk. The deck has an awesome ocean view! wow!
It is very spacious, confortable and well equipped, we had everything needed.
Robin is very accommodating and reliable.
We had a wonderful stay! Thank you very much Robin!
Very sweet, special home
Our family enjoyed our stay at Sandy Toes. Robin and her husband were very responsive to our needs and questions. This home is very well equipped and will surely have everything you will need for your stay. The local beach is close, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. The view from the deck was great too. On a clear day I was pretty sure we could see all the way across the bay and all the way down the cape to Provincetown.
Perfect Escape to the Upper Cape
My friends and I loved staying at Sandy Toes! The house is absolutely beautiful, and the view of the ocean is just breath-taking! (I highly recommend getting up early to see the sunrise. Amazing!!!) We truly enjoyed meeting the families who live in the neighborhood while at the beach. The owners of the home, Robin and John, are just wonderful! I am looking forward to a return trip next summer!
Sandy Toes abuts Sagamore Beach Highlands Conservation acreage at the ocean. This stretch of oceanfront land is high bluffs, with beach entrances dotted here and there along the low areas between bluffs. It is just two miles north of Sandwich, (probably the prettiest town on the Cape.) It is 15 miles south of Plymouth which is not only historic, but has whale watching and Plimouth Plantation the 1600s village of living history (like a trip in a time machine). Many vacationers know that this is an excellent and increasingly preferred location at the top of Cape Cod, as it gives easy access to exploring without the disadvantage of getting mired in the infamous Cape traffic. Just south is Sandwich. Hyannis is 20 minutes away (ferries transport you to Nantucket), as is Falmouth (ferries to Martha's Vineyard) and Wood's Hole. Buzzards Bay, with it's water-slide park and mini-golf and kayak rentals, is only 5 miles away. Less than 2 miles from SandyToes is the CapeCod Canal Bikeway: 8 miles of flat, paved waterfront biking w rest stations w water fountains, bike rental, food and antiques.
Other Activities: One guest landed a bluefish on the beach
Golf: The area has many fine golf courses, antique shops, and historic homes -- some of which date to the 1600s and can be toured. And there's nothing quite like being oceanfront when the July 4th fireworks can be viewed across the water --you can see fireworks all around you as Cape Cod towns have displays that are visible right from 'SandyToes' oceanfront deck. Campfires (current rules permitting) and clambakes on the beach complete idyllic summertime memories. If you want a taste of the big city, you can drive or take a train an easy 48 miles into Boston, where there are concerts, plays, shopping, and sites to satisfy all ages and interests. The commuter rail can take your teens into Boston's South Station, just a quick subway ride from the popular Back Bay, interesting and varied boutiques. Or go to Harvard Square in Cambridge, a lively fusion of culture, education, and exciting shops and bookstores. A short drive to New Bedford's whaling museum and Newport's grand mansions make fascinating day trips.
Ski: There is even a water slide park in nearby Buzzard's Bay. If you've ever worried that your summer rental would be shabby or tacky, crowded with cast-off furniture and depressing decor, or stripped down to the meanest minimum (we've seen so many like that), put your mind at rest. This pleasant home has been designed to please discriminating visitors with first-rate amenities in an inspiring private woodsy oceanside location. You may wish to review just a few of the compliments bestowed on SandyToes from our valued previous guests, by following the calendar/guestbook link. Then you can evaluate this delightful woodsy ocean hideaway we call 'SandyToes.'
SandyToes may be fully booked by the time you read this. If so, please consider our similarly-wonderful alternatives: -- Storybook 'House by the Sea' an incomparable historic house on direct oceanfront, reigning over one of New England's most beautiful views, has beach stairs to a private beach.
