About Megan and Gordon
We live in Olympia, Washington, but we lived with our youngest son in San Miguel for a year in 2008/2009. Our son went to a Mexican school for his 8th grade year.
Megan and Gordon purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why Megan and Gordon chose Zona Centro
We purchased this casita for its easy access the rich culture of San Miguel, the friendliness of the people and the opportunity to be part of this unique community.
What makes this Apartment unique
We especially enjoy the nightly sunsets over the sierra from the french door windows in the kitchen/dining room. We enjoy being close to the central square, the open market, the Institute Allende and language schools. We enjoy moutain biking with the 'Bici-Burro' bike shop just two blocks away.

Very good rental
10 minute walk to Central square where music and entertainment almost daily. Very safe with visible police force. Walking on total cobblestone and steep roads, but good raised sidewalks. Were in 3rd floor walkup apartment which has everything we needed. No other folks in other 2 apartments. Some loud talking in evenings heard and city traffic as expected, and fireworks- quite beautiful. Friendly people and no pressure to buy.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. It is such fun having an ideal view of the fireworks in the Jardin from our apartment. We love the fact that we are in a neighborhood filled with Mexican families, a warren of narrow cobblestone streets in the culturally rich oldest part of town. The hills do get steep past our casita, but are relatively gentle up to our apartment. We are not the best choice for those wanting a completely level walk home, but ideal for those willing to exert themselves a little to get great views!

Wonderful Apartment in Centro
Comfortably appointed with local craftsman-made furniture and artwork. A lovely apartment with everything you need for a memorable stay in San Miguel. It’s close enough to Centro, with the beautiful Parroquia, Jardin, shops and restaurants, but just far enough to be away from the crowds.
The rooftop patio is an amazing place to relax with a coffee or glass of wine, and take in the beautiful view.
This is a lovely place. Nicely furnished, decorated and well taken care of. The kitchen was very well stocked with nice dishes and kitchen tools. We cook a lot and loved the kitchen. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We had been a little worried about the couch, but it turned out to be quite comfortable. Awesome rooftop deck with beautiful, well cared for plants and amazing views of the city. The walk downtown was 10-15 minutes and easy once you know where you are going.
There were only a few challenges. We got in very late at night, so our welcome was rather abrupt. The road to the front door is a bit narrow with no sidewalk and sometimes we had to dodge the traffic to get to it. The neighbors could be a little loud, but nothing unexpected for a Mexican town.
Overall, a wonderful casita to stay in. We highly recommend it.
Really great owners
This would have been our second month long stay at Megan and Gordon’s wonderful Casita in downtown San Miguel, except an unfortunate accident resulting in a broken hip necessitated cancellation of our stay. Megan and Gordan were extremely respectful of our situation and went above and beyond trying to help us, even though our cancellation was in their busy winter season. Fortunately, our insurance covered most of our loss, but we were extremely apprecuative of their compassionate attitude. These are the type of honest, caring people you want to rent from and rest assured we’ve already made our reservation for next year.
San Miguel is the best!!
San Miguel is the best and this apartment is clean, nicely equipped and well maintained . The view of the city and surrounding countryside is astounding. This property is highly recommended.
Great location in Historical area, lots to offer!!
We had a very enjoyable stay at this apt.( Jan 17-31, 2018). Apt tastefully decorated Mexican style, beautiful Mexican artwork and pottery and ceramics. Bed very comfortable, bathroom newly tiled, very clean. Maid and gardener lovely ladies, friendly, kept apt and patio very clean.Abraham ( apt mgr) and his office staff very helpful.During our stay it was quite cool in the mornings and evenings, definitely needed the extra layers at that time of day. In contrast though, our rooftop terrace was very warm mid day until the sun set. And the terrace was very spacious, comfortable furniture and spectacular views of the city.
We ( seniors aged 70 and 81) walked everywhere, despite my husbands bad hip, he managed the hills just fine ( used a cane and glad he did).Three flights of stairs were not really a problem.
Parque Juarez close by was beautiful, quite a gem..visit on weekends to enjoy the local artists and their displays.
Easy walk to Centro and all the activities it provided daily.
You have to visit the oldest cantina in SM, El Manantial, few doors down the street from this apt. Great place to enjoy Happy Hour, or dinner and drinks, staff and locals are most friendly.
Only downside ( and this is minor): have to agree with previous guest ( Nick H Dec 2017) who said he would have preferred a comfortable sofa for relaxing in the evening..the twin bed and pillows looked great but not cosy enough.
All in all we loved our stay, apt is in a great location, being able to walk everywhere a real plus!!
SMA is a beautiful city with so much to offer..
Language schools and Arts/crafts/cooking schools
