My family had a great week in early August 2019. Wonderful location steps down to beautiful bay side beach and close drive to kettle ponds and Atlantic side beaches. House has everything you need to relax and cook. Some of the best views of Wellfleet bay.
Thank you Eric. We hope you and your family will return again. Knowing people enjoy our home means a lot to us!
You cannot beat the location of this house with its amazing views of the Bay. The house has everything you could need for an awesome vacation. The deck is beautiful with private access to the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bedrooms are all comfortable and well-appointed. And the basement game room is a special bonus. A great spot for family vacationing together or really anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Cape Cod.
Everything the Cape should be
Val, your house was absolutely perfect and our week there was just incredible. Every day we'd wake up and look out to that indescribable view and be in awe. We would take walks at low tide, swim at high tide. We visited with oyster farmers on the sprawling flats, strolled along our "private" beach in the windy moonlight, cooked and enjoyed the best seafood meals ever as the sun set over the bay and just enjoyed every second.
My kids said it was the best trip they'd ever been on...and they've traveled a lot. If you want the perfect spot on Cape Cod, this house may definitely be it. Wellfleet is such a special place and this home is the perfect expression of that specialness. We can't wait to come back and certainly will.
We could not have been happier with our stay here. The home provides 180 degree views of the harbor/bay side of the upper Cape from the huge deck and the large, all-window sun room. Since it's on the "left" side of Route 6, you get spectacular sunset views.
We've always enjoyed Wellfleet and have rented in the area twice before. The house is a roughly five-minute drive from the town center and 5-10 minute drives from Wellfleet's larger town beaches.
The house interior isn't huge but it utilizes its space perfectly with a large, comfortable living room (in addition to the sun room).
I'd highly recommend Mac's Shack for dinner (no reservations, though) and Hatch's Seafood for fresh fruit and veggies and for when you're cooking. PB Boulangerie in South Wellfleet has a great bakery but is very expensive for dinner. The Flying Fish Cafe in town has great homemade scones and casual lunch.
Ocean, Oysters, Sunsets, Oh My!
We wanted to let you know that we had an awesome vacation at your house in Wellfleet last week. Our entire family was able to relax and enjoy ourselves in your comforatable home. It was totally worth it for us to just be able to sit and stare at the water, enjoy the breeze, and shower during the sunsets (THAT is a great outdoor shower!). The kids (and their parents) loved being able to head down the stairs to look for crabs, take a swim, chat with the oystermen (and women!) etc. And the National Seashore just can't be beat- the water was chilly but swimable and the weather was generally cooperative.
Larry and Kathy were also very accomdating- not that they needed to be as there was nothing wrong. But it was entirely comforting to know that they were there to help if we needed it. They were at the house when we arrived and returned the couple of calls we made very promptly.
I'm so glad we were able to find your house and I hope we have the oppurtunity to rent it again in the future.
Looking for a great place for the family to relax? This is it- spread out in the comfortable living areas and watch the water, take in the breeze, cook a great meal. This house will feel like a vacation, you can simply decide to do nothing and it will be great. Or you can venture off and have a blast anywhere within minutes.
And you'll feel looked after- both the owner and caretakers of the property are highly communicative and the property is maintained in great shape. You can't go wrong!
Wellfleet is nestled within the National Seashore and is a quaint, New England historical whaling town, only about five miles wide with the Atlantic on one side and Cape Cod Bay on the other. Called the 'Art Gallery' town, Wellfleet has spurned commercialism in favor of maintaining a charming downtown filled with privately owned restaurants, galleries, boutiques, ice cream shops, live theater and a harbor with a boardwalk. It has five ocean beaches, numerous fresh water ponds, and since 61% of its land is protected in the Cape Cod National Seashore Park Wellfleet has retained an unspoiled beauty rarely found these days. Luckily for visitiors there are a multitude of ways to discover Wellfleet by renting kayaks or bikes, boarding a nearby whale watching boat, picnicking at the many beaches and bogie boarding or surfing, or strolling along the downtown streets.
Restaurants in town range from BYOB lobster and clam shacks to New York Times and Gourmet reviewed spots.
Other Activities: Cape Cod Bay is spread before you while you sunbath in chaise lounges or have lunch on the wraparound deck watching high above as boats drift by, sea gulls gliding the sky and hearing the tide come in. Outdoor sectional seating offers a cozy nook for conversation, reading beach books, or an afternoon nap . Later have cocktails outside while taking in the incredible panoramic 180 degree waterviews. After watching the spectacular sunset take in the millions of stars which light up the sky above. Plan your next day - there's so much to do in the area! Gorgeous Ocean Beaches, Fishing, Hiking and Biking, Downtown Strolls, Restaurants,Drive In Movie Theater, Skate Park, Regular and Mini Golf, and Arcades all within 3 miles!
Golf: Chequessett Golf is a public gold course with waterfront views located 4 miles from our home. There is another public golf course located in Brewster which is about 45 minutes away, the Captains Golf course.
