About Nancy Gavin
My husband is from Texas and I am from Ottawa. We have two boys 16 and 19. We love to travel with our boys and discover new places. Round Lake is our sanctuary and we enjoy the wonderful sunsets and views from the great room. We look forward to spending our evenings around the firepit making smores, telling stories and singing camp songs. We hope you can create some family memories of your own at our cottage.
Nancy Gavin purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Nancy Gavin chose Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards
I grew up spending my summers on Round Lake. My parents retired here and most of my siblings have bought property here as well. We love the community, it is a very eclectic area. Lot of music, art and local talent. Festivals, farmers markets and fishing derbys. People here are friendly with a strong sense of community. This is your opportunity to enjoy our cottage and our lake community. We can offer all kinds of suggestions for outings in the area as well as leave a fully stocked binder of brochures and maps for you to plan your week. (or just stay at the cottage and enjoy the lake and sunsets).
What makes this Cottage unique
The lake is always changing. Some days it is calm, others a wind comes up and the waves can be like the ocean. I find that we have very few bugs as we are on the windy side of the lake. With South West exposure you can enjoy the sun most of the day and watch the sunset in the evening. The deck is overlooking the beach and firepit area. The lake has very few boats so it is quiet. I enjoy a morning walk to Foy Provincial Park with my dog. I walk down the beach and through the hiking trail. (about 1.5 miles round trip). The park is a non operating park so usually it is empty in the mornings. It is a magical place.

I was looking for a relaxing getaway and wanted to explore the fall colors. Nancy's place fit the bill. It was clean, comfortable and had a lot charm. It was a nice mixture of traditional log cabin and modern convenience.
I will return again but will bring a mattress topper to make the bed a little softer. It is a good bed, in great shape, I just prefer something a little softer. Also I would bring an additional towel to act as a bathroom floor mat for after a shower...the lake was really really cold for bathing
A great experience and what I needed
Thank you for your review Shannon. The lake is very warm in the summer but by October the temperatures have started to drop. I will take your advice and add a bathmat for the bathroom... Im glad you enjoyed the cabin and we hope to have you back in the future.
Million Dollar View
We had a great week at The Beach Cabin and wished we would have booked it for a longer period of time.
My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend relaxing . A beautiful view , private and homely!
Nancy has made this whole process super easy and communicates amazing with our questions !
A peaceful, beautiful getaway!
We had a great time! The cottage was more beautiful than the pictures - the view from the dinner table is so lovely. We only saw neighbours towards the end of the week so it really was private and quiet! The cottage was equipped with all the essentials (and more) and was very cozy and comfortable. The surrounding areas were fun to explore! Nancy was responsive and easy to communicate with. Would go back!
Rustic lakeside cottage
The location suited our needs and the water was always warm enough for an enjoyable swim. The changes in level between kitchen, living space, and bedroom were a bit tough on my old sore knees. The small kitchen counterspace was a challenge at times, and appliances had to be moved in and out, but at least they were available and of top quality. We had little difficulty whipping up meals.
We will miss the sound of the waves lapping on the shore, and of course the loons calling late at night.
We had a wonderful week at the Beach Cabin. Nancy is an excellent host. We’re hoping to return next summer!
