Morning coffee by the ocean. Mother mink catching crabs and delivering them to her young not more than 30 feet from us. Pepper with his cat bells, heralding his coming. Charming comfortable cottage in a very natural area near Victoria. There is really nothing that can be said to outshine our week here. Very convenient to Victoria but far from its bustle. The very gracious hosts, Miss Miracle Mary and her charming husband, Mr Michael were a wealth of Vancouver Island Romance. We LOVED spending precious time here and should we return to BC, a return to visit would be a highlight.
We were happy to share our beautiful garden with you both and glad you found our cottage from so far away. The miracle of the internet.
A multitude of special touches: homemade jam and Murchie’s Tea and a welcome basket followed by a basket of freshly harvested potatoes and green beans! Lovely fresh flower bouquet from the garden. Warm informative exchanges with Michael and Mary, our generous hosts. Stunning views – sunrises – seals - heron - and their dog, Pepper! Truly “ Gemütlichkeit“ - a sense of comfort, joy, and well-being. Our one constructive suggestion is to have the exact address available to us via Vrbo once our reservation was confirmed. Thank you!
Our second stay at this terrific property. Just one small hint, If you have issues with stairs the bedroom is on the second floor. Hostess and host, cottage very fine. Very well equipped. Quiet.
Steps from the ocean, beautiful private garden, quiet but close to amenities. We enjoyed a lovely week.
Sunrise Garden Cottage
We loved our stay at this cottage. So quiet and peaceful. Could sleep with the bedroom window open at night, something I’m not able to do back home due to noise. We loved the little beach two doors down. The grounds on this property are so well manicured with beautiful flowers. We loved sitting in the big white chairs overlooking the ocean. It was a relaxing holiday and I would recommend this cottage to anyone.
Mary and Michael's cottage exceeded or expectations! It was quiet, on a beautiful estate, close enough to both Victoria and Sidney to make for fun filled days and only steps to a private cove.
Although only 15-20 minutes to downtown Victoria, the heritage cottage is near a secluded cove that is a haven for wild ducks, geese, eagles, oyster catchers and herons. A lovely garden of perennials, annuals and shrubs is surrounded by an ancient English Laurel hedge for absolute privacy.
