About Cecilia and Robert Katz
Our names are Cecilia and Robert Katz. We live on a 100 acre property which includes our home, a working vineyard, woods and pastures, and our most recent addition, the Vineyard House. We are transplanted Californians but have lived in Oregon for many years. While we are both European born, our respective families immigrated to the United States many decades ago and we have lived in the USA for most of our lives. We do not make wine but we sell our grapes to several prominent wineries in this area and have many friends and business associates who are involved in the Oregon wine industry. When we are not involved with our vineyard we enjoy time with our children and grandchildren and travel.
Cecilia and Robert Katz purchased this House in 2005
Why Cecilia and Robert Katz chose Yamhill
We bought this property in 2005 because several of our children had moved into this area and we wanted to be close-by. We also loved the beautiful setting and it's proximity to Portland and the Oregon coast. Our newly built Vineyard House is on the site of a caretaker home that we had taken down . The new house was completed in June, 2014.
What makes this House unique
Vineyard House was designed by a well respected local architect. We asked him to design a cozy, intimate home that would give anyone living here the feeling that they were, indeed, living in a vineyard. We feel that he succeeded in his effort. We used a local builder whom we've known for many years who brought practical experience and a strong work ethic to achieve a great result. While we've included many photos, they do not really do justice and no photo can convey the feeling that you get when sitting in the living room, or cooking in the kitchen, or laying in bed, and looking out, seeing and feeling the vineyard and the surrounding area. We are off the beaten path so you won't be bothered by the typical urban/suburban noise, lights, or traffic. And yet, you are only a short drive away from the best that Yamhill County has to offer.

An out of the way place to unwind
Sunrise looking down on the vineyard and across the valley is a beautiful experience
Thank you, Dan. I always love walking in the vineyard, glass of pinot in hand. I hope that you were able to do the same.
Serene, private setting
The owner was responsive within a few hours to our initial inquiry and questions during our stay. The home is contemporary, clean, and appointed in a manner that balances simplicity, style, and modern conveniences. The best feature is the floor to ceiling windows off the family room and sliding door that opens to the front porch. We spent many hours enjoying the view of the vineyard as well as distant mountains. Because we came seeking a retreat, with minimal plans to go out for meals or other activities, we did find that the kitchen lacked some utensils for cooking more involved meals, but again, we appreciated the simplicity of the setting and made it work! Also, I would need to go back and check the property description on the VRBO site and other comments, but we had the impression that there was access to a hot tub/spa at the home (it is at the owner's adjoining property) and that we would have a welcome bottle of wine awaiting us. Unfortunately we didn't bring or purchase wine on our way to the house the first night and there was no welcome bottle waiting for us. In summary, this is a wonderful home in a serene setting which is what we were seeking, so the absence of a few of the portrayed "luxuries" didn't negatively impact our stay.
Thanks Jennifer - I do regret the miscommunication on my part. The hot tub used to be available upon request - however, we sold that part of the property and so no longer can offer it. It was never meant to be a part of the program though. When you come again, I will certainly put out a bottle of wine for you.
Glad that all went well other wise.
Beautiful home and setting!
If we want to get away from everything and enjoy all that Willamette Valley has to offer, this is the place for you. The property is clean and contemporary with stunning views. We enjoyed walking each morning around the property.
thank you for your kind words - I know that your walking about the vineyard helped make the grapes happy!
Beautiful home in the wine country
The beautiful home overlooks a vineyard.. perfect for 2 couples. Such great host to work with and the caretaker Michael was so friendly and helpful. One day we had Custom Valley tours pick us up and they were great! We can’t wait to return
Wonderful retreat in Oregon wine country
We spent three nights at this lovely home that overlooks vineyards and a beautiful valley. It was so quiet and peaceful and totally private. The architecture is unique and the large windows in front of the house take advantage of the amazing views. We liked the layout with the two bedrooms, along with private bathrooms, separated by the living area. The kitchen was well equipped and we appreciated the fresh eggs and bottle of delicious Pinot Noir provided by our hosts. Cecilia responded quickly to my inquiries and was so friendly in her communications. We didn't get to meet her in person but she made sure everything was in order for our stay. She also sent recommendations of local wineries and places to eat and shop which was very helpful. This is a perfect location for wine tasting and the local wines are impressive. We will definitely be back to the area and hopefully this home will be available when we return. It is the best VRBO property we have stayed in!
Thanks you, Nancy. We were so sorry to miss meeting you. We will make sure we do the next time you come up. Cecilia
