The cottage is on a small and quite private lake, with about 1,000 feet of frontage on each side of the lake. Swimming is primarily from the dock, with plenty-deep water that is usually quite warm in the summer. There is a canoe for exploring and you'll find lots of lifejackets on site for adults and kids.
There is a treed slope down to the water; a mix of Canadian Shield and grass. The water is about 2ft deep at the shoreline and then gradually deepens more. The lakebed is firm to soft sand/gravel/rock bottom.

Why Gillian chose Bala
Forests galore. A lake perfect for swimming or paddling. Shopping and restaurants about 1-2 km away in Bala. A perfect escape from the noise and bustle of city life. We bought this cottage to give our family a restful spot to gather with friends, to enjoy fresh air and nature.
What makes this cottage unique
This serene beautiful spot is unique inMuskoka. In the spring, summer and fall, there are acres of forest to roam, and a quiet lake almost exclusively yours to enjoy. You can swim, kayak or canoe in pristine water, take long walks in the woods, and have a rest in the hammock listening to the birds and chipmunks. In the winter, downhill skiing is available at nearby ski resorts, go cross-country skiing on the trails on the property or nearby, and there are local skating arenas. Bring snowshoes for walks in the woods. Best of all, there's a great toboggan run on the property.
