Steps from the Sea, Stylish Mykonos House with Private Beach and Pool
- english, greek
I have been coming to Mykonos since the early 80s, I raised my children here and loved the enduring bohemian spirit and desert beauty of the island. We gravitate towards the authentic unspoiled places where you can relax and enjoy the aesthetic natural beauty. We dip into the cosmopolitan trend setting aspect of the island whenever we want to a part of that too. This is also what our house offers inside the vibrant Mykonos scene at a relaxed distance.
Vicky purchased this House in 2009
Why Vicky chose Ornos
A great house for up to 5 people. Costa Ilios is a unique location resort for Mykonos, family-oriented, no cars and beautiful gardens make it safe for kids and teens to roam free. Compared to the rest of Mykonos which can be very busy in high season the atmosphere is here relaxed, close to nature and low key. While a few people swim in the saltwater pool it's the private beach that is the hidden gem. A cove that's always protected from the strong Mykonos winds, the beach is a mix of sand and stones with safe swimming for all ages. Unlike the majority of beaches in Mykonos where lounge chairs and umbrella rentals can be expensive, on our beach they are free to all guests. Easy to access to town, ports and the airport and the best beaches and restaurants on the island, but away from the hustle and bustle from Myconos town.
What makes this House unique

Fantastic stay, highly recommended!
Property was perfect with a great view over Ornos and amazing pool and private beach for the resort. Check in process was very easy and Maragarita was helpful throughout. Would highly recommend!
Private, family retreat
House is as advertised. Adorable. The private beach was an unexpected suprise. Kids loved it. Restaurant on property convenient and delicious. Would absolutely recommend. Would love to return.
Golden girls getaway
Beautiful setting, fabulous location, especially the little private beach. We hired a car, but discovered an excellent taxi app to download, iMove, which would be a useful addition to the information sheet provided. The staff in the little taverna are very friendly and most of the meals we had were delicious. Thoroughly recommend this resort!
Thanks for the tip on the iMove app I will include it in future information.
Great Location But Very Basic
Great location, beautiful view, and cute place, but no a/c, dishwasher, microwave, or wall shower. Laundry washer leaked onto the floor. Shower areas were so small even the handheld showers sprayed onto the floor. No hairdryer. Kitchen is dated w limited, older kitchen supplies. Not even enough glasses. We had to purchase supplies. The upstairs double bedroom is the only comfortable one. The third bedroom (w twin bed) is a closet. Water leak in basement bedroom made it very damp. We had to leave windows open for ventilation and the narrow design of the 3 floor unit created a constant wind tunnel (Mykonos is notoriously windy). The stay was exhausting. We are a well-traveled American family of 5. We stay in flats instead of hotels so we can fully experience the local culture. We set our expectations and make adjustments accordingly. We stayed in 3 locations in Greece during this trip. This one was the worst. In fact, it was the worst stay in all our travels to date. Cute in the pics and a great location and view, but ill-equipped and VERY uncomfortable.
Firstly I want to thank the reviewer for pointing out a problem with the leaking washer/dryer, we were aware it of but thought was fixed. As in any house, appliances break and we do our very best to fix and monitor them.
The review's title "Great Location, but very basic", our only bad review and we feel unjustified for 2 reasons; our guest did not absorb the property description, secondly, it's a case of mismatched expectations, for the context of Mykonos.
The house was described as 'basic'; reasons given were no microwave, no A/C and no dishwasher - we never claimed to have any of these in the property description. He did not mention the are ceiling fans on all floors to cool the house with a few open windows without creating an air tunnel, but I understand that many people from the US are just used to A/C. The kitchen has essentials to make breakfast and simple meals (again in the property description), but was described as "ill-equipped", not enough water glasses and had to buy his own. We have 15 water glasses, for most people, this is enough. The description says the house is 75 sq meters (not big) and the 3rd bedroom is very small, the reviewer says the bathrooms and 3rd bedroom were too small. The showers heads can be attached to the wall you just need to know how. There is no damp in the lower floor bedroom, water on the floor is likely due to washer leak?
Mykonos is unlike the rest of Greece, it's a very beautiful, upscale island. It's VERY expensive as a visitor and homeowner. Our house is moderately priced for Mykonos standards far from basic, with a great location, private beach and beautiful unobstructed views of the sea 5 meters from the terrace. We have hosted many happy guests, it truly saddens us when people have an unhappy stay because we make every effort to be accommodating and honest about what we offer. Our guest (5 people) clearly needed a bigger, more serviced Villa Experience for their very short visit to feel comfortable and there are many options in Mykonos which rent for about 800 US dollars a day, that's not what he paid.
Some advice to future guests: pay attention to the property description. What are your priorities? If it's location/view/ cozy space for 5 or better 4 guests, our house is great. Questions/doubts? Contact me, I will answer honestly even tell you our house is not for you. Understand Mykonos and match your budget for your accommodation priorities.
The pictures were very accurate. The view from the front door and upstairs bedroom is beautiful. We picked up dinner one night at the restaurant on the property. We swam in the huge salt water pool and relaxed on the private beach. We bought dinner at a local restaraunt and at on the front porch watching the boats in the harbor. The place is spacious and very comfortable.
Thanks for your review Erik I am so glad you had a good time at our house in Mykonos
Had the best time place was amazing views stunning and the gentleman that owned the resturant was so helpful would differently returned we stayed here as our son got married at hippie fish just down the road.
Stylish, self contained waterfront house in Mykonos, perfect for up to 5 people or a family. We have a private community beach and pool. Wonderful location for a family vacation. Our house is in a gated community is on a peninsula across the bay from the legendary Santa Marina Hotel -a nice place to visit for a drink. Our favourite pastime is to sit on the terrace at the sunset and watch the yachts floating in and out of Ornos bay. There are lush gardens surrounding the house and no cars. if you don't feel like going out there are many local restaurants that deliver. Ornos has a supermarket, butcher, dry cleaner and the famous 24 hour Ornos bakery.
Other Activities: Free Private tennis courts, basket ball court, restaurant and playground in the resort
