The farmhouse was much bigger than I thought and easily housed our party of 8
We had a fantastic holiday despite the fact that it was winter. The property was well heated and fully equipped with all the things one would expect. The children thoroughly enjoyed their short break and there was plenty to do in the local area. Rick was very helpful throughout.
Hazy Days of June.
Just as described in the title, a wonderful little house in a rural location. Nothing other than the birds and Crickets to disturb your relaxation. Although the weather wasn't great on all our days, we had plenty to go at in the area. Plenty of seafood fresh each day, and plenty of local wine to wash it all down with. A trip to Cognac is a must, and will enable you to see and experience the local area a little more. On returning to the house, ensure you are armed with plenty of fresh bread, cheese and wine, a selection of meats to bar b que and you are surely set to enjoy an evening of unhurried pleasure beside the pool.
The owners have done a lovely job to create a very comfortable home for you to borrow, with comfy beds and ample seating. There is plenty of hot water, if you need it, a great kitchen with all the gadgets to make your stay as easy as possible.
If you hadn't guessed we had a simply great time, and we're very sorry to leave.
One other thing, if you just can't cope without the internet, they even have that too!
Many thanks for this excellent report on your holiday at La Cigogne. We love the place to bits too!
Farmhouse in perfect location with great setup
We had a party of 2 families including 4 adults and 3 teenagers. The property is a really good size and was easily large enough to accommodate everyone. All rooms were very well furnished and decorated to a really good standard. It's fabulously kitted out throughout, so very comfortable. The outside area is very secure, with the pool area in its own courtyard, so it's very private and safe. Perfect to relax in the good climate. The pool was spotless and clearly well maintained. It's also very well equipped, with plenty of comfortable loungers, outside dining facilities etc. If you go once, you will want to go back. We have already booked again for next year. Really can't fault it.
Lovely relaxing holiday location
Lovely rural location with great facilities. Also great for families with young children. We had a very enjoyable two weeks here in August - would recommend.
My family and I have just returned from a perfect 2 weeks at the farmhouse. The property and setting are actually much better than the pictures portray. The house itself is very spacious, with plenty of things provided to make the holiday enjoyable - such as DVD's, games, Sky TV etc. The gardens are much bigger than you can see on the website too, including a lovely gravelled drive and garage. Within easy drives are small and larger supermarkets and nice restaurants etc. Plenty of English spoken in the area too which helps with our pigeon French. There were 5 of us in the family, and a dog, and all had a super time. We may even book again. The owners and caretakers also very nice too! (oh, and great weather!)
We are so delighted to have yet another satisfied holiday guest. We love our farmhouse too!
Excellent Property very rural and quiet. Brilliant owners very helpful and informative. Pool not heated but not needed as it was generally above 23 C. Everything you need for a quiet relaxing holiday. We went with family of 4 put could comfortably sleep double that. Overall would definitely recommend.
Thanks Very much
We aim to please
There are a host of activities and things to do in the area including:
St Jean d'Angely - located 12 miles away is a charming medieval town with a busy market twice a week. It has a wide range of shops, cafes and dozens of restaurants. Niort - Originally a Gallic village snuggled in a bend in the river on the banks of the River Sevre 14 miles away, the town has kept the traces of its glorious history intact. It is a commercial town with many different businesses and the Baltard style market hall, which shelters a very lively covered market. La Rochelle - The best way of seeing La Rochelle is to stroll along the quay sides of the old harbour and through the network of pedestrian streets. It is obvious from the old timbered houses and private mansions that the source of La Rochelle's splendour has always been the sea. Shops and restaurants abound and should be combined with a visit to the nearby beaches. The Atlantys pool complex - in St Jean d'Angely is open 7 days a week.
