Testimonials from renters:

Mollie from Manhattan- We loved it! I can't wait to come back again. Thanks so much for your hospitality. I thought it was great - close to Portland, lots of lakes, great that the water is just a few steps away. I've already recommended to several friends.

Dagny, Don and Bathsheba from Barbados- My husband and I took a decade long dream come true fishing trip with his two sons at this lovely cottage. Very clean and comfortable, charming and accommodating hosts. We can't wait to return and bring the wives and grandkids.

Anna from MA- We had a great time thank you. If we go on vacation next year, we would like to stay again. I will keep the address in my save box.

Mike from RI- Thanks. We had a great time at the cottage. The area is beautiful and the cottage was perfect. Thankfully, we had great weather. Hopefully we'll be up again next year.

Dayna from MA- Just wanted to let you know that we had a good time over the weekend...exactly what we needed. The cottage was great. We hope to make another trip back sometime.

Laurie from MA at Christmas- Our family of four enjoyed the beautiful lake location and enjoyed the warmth on the piney wood on the inside. Our winter vacation allowed days of jammies and tea as well as local excursion incuding tubing, ice skating, antiquing and museum hopping. It was delightful to be able to cook great meals and enjoy the luxury of the wilderness.

The three bedroom cottage can hold up to six people. The cottage has several amenities you may not find at all vacation rentals. It has a dock, grill, canoe, kayak, stove, enclosed porch, and a campfire area with firewood. A spiral staircase takes you to one of the bedrooms. Pets are welcomed and there is a walking area on the grounds.

Upon your arrival, the cottage has such supplies as toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues, trash bags, common kitchen spices, dish towels, matches, firewood, first aid kit, fire extinguisher and flashlights. Renters must provide their own linens and towels for bathing. Two beds are queen size and one bed is full size. The kitchen was updated in 2020. The cottage has several board games and two televisions. One television has over-air broadcast, Roku and dvd. The other television has over-air and dvd.

The area is truly a four season delight! In the summer, many vacationers visit the Lake Region to fish, boat, sightsee, kayak, canoe, and just relax on one of the many bodies of water. In the fall, the region is known for wonderful fall foliage. Hunters visit to hunt for various game such as deer and turkey. In the winter, vacationers come for the snow for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing.

The cottage is a 30 minute drive to Pleasant Mountain, 40 minute drive to Oxford Casino, 45 minute drive to Lost Valley, 45 minute drive to the ocean and an hour drive to Sunday River Mountain. During all four seasons, anglers of all ages fish for such species as landlocked salmon, bass, lake trout, and brook trout. A unique feature of the area is the Songo Locks, one of the last remaining functioning locks to connect two bodies of water in Maine.

We are a pet-friendly rental that does not charge extra for pets. Smoking is strictly prohibited indoors, but smoking is allowed outside. A security deposit is required to occupy the house and is due upon arrival. The deposit amount is based on the length of stay and number of occupants. The security deposit is up to $350 per week. For security deposit, VRBO payment, Paypal with a fee, checks, and cash are accepted. Reservations are fully refunded if canceled with more than 60 days' notice.

Christmas Cabin
This was the perfect cozy cabin to celebrate Christmas with our family. We enjoyed walking the quiet neighborhood and watching the birds play on the river.

Total relaxation
Kyle was helpful and easy to commit with, his wife was very pleasant as we met her at checkin. The weather was cool and damp but had plenty of time by the fire and dock. It had new stairs and hand rails, easy to get on and off. Cabin was comfy and all the utilities were on point. Going to do it again!

Hi, I am Kyle Rhoads and I usually respond to rental inquiries. My wife, Carrie, my daughter, Ava, and I often help maintain and clean the cottage. We are a family of educators with my parents both retired educators. I am a Principal of a local elementary school; my sister and wife are both school counselors. We love this location for the family memories, the peaceful living, and our love for watersports. My Dad loves to fish and often helps renters know where to find the best spots to catch 'the big one' that did not get away!

Why they chose this property

Our family bought the cottage to have a place for present and future generations of our family to relax and enjoy the summer months on the water in Maine. Because of taxes and the mortgage payments, we share the cottage with guests so we can keep the cottage owned by our family.

What makes this property unique

The enclosed porch is a great spot to sip coffee and read a book without the worry of a mosquito! The natural smell of pine needles helps you relax and remember the true beauty of the Maine landscape. The cottage is well-maintained and kept clean but the interior makes you feel that you went back in time!
