About Maureen Dorey
We are a middle age couple who have raised 2 sons in Mahone Bay and have been married for 37 years. Barry has lived in the area all his life and Maureen is a come from away who fell in love with the South Shore way of life long before she met Barry.
Maureen Dorey purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Maureen Dorey chose Mahone Bay
This house was built in the late 1950's. Mahone Bay is renowned for it boatbuilding heritage and many past boatbuilders have built their houses in Mahone Bay with character and detail as they built their wooden boats. We love the character and have tried to preserve this as we did our renovations. The location is on a narrow lane which is not far from the downtown area but far enough that it is in a quiet location.
What makes this Cottage unique
This house is well laid out and very cozy. It has a private back yard and you can hear the church bells ringing in town on Sunday morning.

Very cosy and clean. Great location and easy check in and check out.
A comfortable and perfectly located cottage in a friendly town.
Amazing stay in Mahone Bay
Cottage was cozy and well equipped, location could not have been better. Walking distance to everything. Would definitely stay here again.
Cherry lane was fine for our needs. Quiet neighborhood and easy stroll to village. The cottage needs some TLC. A good scrubbing and then painting both in and out. Both bathrooms especially need updating .
Thanks for your review. We are painting the exterior this Fall. We had planned to do it in the Spring before our busy season but the weather didn't cooperate. As the season winds down, we do any painting indoors as well.
All the best,
Nice place. Very quiet
Mohane Bay was so nice. The place was walking distance to everything. Just what we both needed a quiet and peaceful stay Thanks Rick and Lorna and our 67 Jewels
Thank you for the lovely review. Hope you visit us in Mahone Bay again!
All the best,
Maureen and Barry
Very relaxing, close to everything !
Nice location near Mahone Bay, very quiet neighborhood and the cottage was clean and cosy . Only wish there would have been a king bed .
Mahone Bay is a quaint Nova Scotia Town on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Fishing has been our livelyhood in the past and still is a source of income for some. Pirates use to come into our Bay and there is a story about the Privateer ship, the Young Teaser that people of Mahone Bay love to tell. There are boaters dotting our bay, including sailboats, yachts, houseboats which create a backdrop for a breathtaking picture over the bay. We have many shops, cafes and restaurants some overlooking the Bay and of course the Mug and Anchor Pub. Our festivals and events include the Pirate Festival and Regetta Aug. 2 to 5, Scarecrow Festival & Antique Fair October 4 - 6, 2013 as well as the Father Christmas Festival November 29th to December 8. You are never too far from the sea in Mahone Bay and sandy beaches with surf are a short drive.
